sandy4fun34
Hey Friends, Recently I updated my IDM to the latest version, i.e. 6.42 Build 35. But when I go to any Youtube video, the IDM integration module shows only the 360p resolution option for downloading instead of showing all the formats. Also the 4k Video downloader is unable to download youtube videos. Has google recently made changes to it's youtube videos? Is there any solution to it? Please let me know. Thanks. MartinAero
Just wait for next IDM version, they will hopefully fix it soon. They have released 8(!) new versions in a month. 6.42.28 - 6.42.35. In several of these 8 builds it says in changelog "Resolved problems with video recognition on several web sites". But apparently they still have problems fixing Youtube. So it's just to keep waiting until they fully fix it. Krinal and Bl4ckCyb3rEnigm4

Same opinion because once again IDM has published several versions very quickly. In the last 3 weeks I wasn't surprise (I haven't try them because I will kept IDM-v6.42.31 until a stable release). phen0men4 and MartinAero

MartinAero
@lurch234 Great to know this. To make it even easier (instead of doing what it says at IDM site), in browser address bar just replace: watch?v= with: embed/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=387Ag4Jyy6M https://www.youtube.com/embed/387Ag4Jyy6M shwescorpion, kameli, sandy4fun34 and 2 others 4

MartinAero
Bad news. New IDM 6.42.36 released today works even worse than before! With build 36 the "embed" workaround at Youtube doesn't work any longer. So I recommend to NOT upgrade IDM to build 36.

MartinAero
@lurch234 I tested to also uninstall and reinstall the IDM browser addon. Still doesn't work for me in build 36. Maybe it depends on which browser being used. I use Brave. What browser do you use?

Popin
IDM 6.42.36 works on Vivaldi browser, Windows 10 21H2 IoT. The strange thing is that no download box appears in embedded youtube videos. MartinAero

Today build 36 worked for me in Brave. I really can't understand why it didn't yesterday, even though I reinstalled the addon. The only I can think about is that I have restarted my computer since yesterday. So I guess that must be the reason why it's working for me today. In this case, it's like a redirection to the 2nd link. On 5/7/2025 at 6:53 PM, MartinAero said: So I recommend to NOT upgrade IDM to build 36. Same opinion at this moment. That's why now I'm wonder it's perhaps the cause of this trouble ? Not yet implemented ? From my point of view, I would rather to discover another fork of this application because they are always busy (the icone for the Chromecast with a few settings in the history can't improve the GUI ? The path will be very very very long for them to understand that's the user friendly). To resume, I didn't forget also the bad practice (behavior) because to give you one example : after a while (months) when somebody ask any news about one feature it has been recognize as spammer (post vanish or hidden for a false conclusion). 7 hours ago, MartinAero said: The only I can think about is that I have restarted my computer Usually a message from IDM appears to inform us when it's require after an update. I tested and noticed that it's not allowed to use the "embed" link for age restricted videos (even if you are logged in). https://www.youtube.com/embed/TLe-YtaJNas = Can't be used because of the age restriction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLe-YtaJNas = Standard link only show 360p in IDM. This means that you at the moment can't use IDM to download that video. You must wait until the IDM developer fix the error so all resolutions can be downloaded when using the standard link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLe-YtaJNas If you don't want to wait until it's fixed (maybe it will take a long time until it happens), you can use 4KVD. There it works. Edited May 11 by MartinAero l0veruski and Kaitlan
