Karlston
"Wherever there's murder and mayhem, you will always find an Addams." Jenna Ortega is back in the titular role for S2 of the Netflix series, Wednesday. It's been a long, long wait, but we're finally getting a second season of the Netflix supernatural horror comedy, Wednesday. The streaming giant dropped the first teaser and several first-look images to whet our appetites for what promises to be an excellent follow-up to the delightful first season. (Spoilers for S1 below.) As previously reported, director Tim Burton famously turned down the opportunity to direct the 1991 feature film The Addams Family, inspired by characters created by American cartoonist Charles Addams for The New Yorker in 1938. Wednesday showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar—best known for Smallville—expected Burton to turn them down as well when they made their pitch. He signed up for the project instead. This was an older, edgier, and even darker Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) than the dour young girl Christina Ricci made famous in the 1990s. Aloof, sardonic, and resolutely independent, she was very much the problem child, even by Addams standards, having been expelled from eight schools in five years. Hence her enrollment at Nevermore Academy, a haven for so-called "outcasts" and the alma mater of her parents. Wednesday struggled to fit in at first, clashing with her cheery werewolf roommate Enid (Emma Myers) and the school queen bee, a siren named Bianca (Joy Sunday). Then she began investigating a string of brutal murders, leading her to resolve some long-standing family issues and delve into the school's dark history. It all added up to a winning formula—basically a very good eight-hour Burton movie with a spooky murder mystery at its core. The Addams clan is back for a second season. Netflix Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) is starting at Nevermore this season. Netflix Emma Myers is back as Wednesday's roomie and BFF, Enid. Netflix What would Wednesday do without the loyal Thing? Netflix Fred Armisen returns as Uncle Fester. Netflix Looks like we'll be seeing more of Tyler (Hunter Doohan), revealed as a murderous Hyde in the S1 finale. Netflix Joanna Lumley plays Hester Frump, Mortician's mother. Netflix Most of the main cast returns for S2, including Ortega, Myers, and Sunday. Reprising their roles: Luis Guzman and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Gomez and Morticia Addams; Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams; Victor Dorobantu as Thing; Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester; Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Ritchie Santiago; Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, revealed as a murderous Hyde in the S1 finale; and Jamie McShane as Donovan Galpin, the Jericho sheriff and Tyler's father (McShane is a guest this season). We'll miss Gwendoline Christie's Principal Larissa Weems and Christina Ricci's diabolical botany teacher, Marilyn Thornhill (RIP to both), but at least we're getting the fabulous Joanna Lumley as Hester Frump, Morticia's mother. Other new cast members include Billie Piper, Steve Buscemi, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Tyler. And apparently Lady Gaga will make a guest appearance. It looks like Wednesday's S1 love interest, Xavier (Percy Hynes White), will not be back for S2. Here's hoping we'll at least be seeing more of nerdy bee enthusiast Eugene (Moosa Mostafa). The second season of Wednesday will drop on Netflix in two parts. Part 1 premieres on August 6, 2025, while Part 2 will follow on September 3, 2025.
