Sandman
Oh no. Thunderbird doesn't allow downgrading unless a new profile is created. keyman
Popular Post SL0TH
@Sandman You can just use the --allow-downgrade command-line option to force it zinoswink, Sandman, coopers and 4 others 4

JsinFate
Most people who are looking for the stable versions will want the ESR release. Carolus

Administrator Matt Posted October 12 Author Administrator Share Posted October 12 @Folken16 Please read the guidelines carefully. https://nsaneforums.com/guidelines/ Quote Like on most online forums the use of the 'Like / Thanks' button is preferred over simply posting 'Thanks' or something similar. Making an excessive number of posts which add little to nothing to a topic might result in a post count reduction. "Thank you" post is removed now, so we hope this won't occur once again. Administrator Matt Posted October 12 Author Administrator Share Posted October 12 @jvidal and @zinoswink We appreciate your confirmation that you are not experiencing any problems, however these versions don't even have the labels "beta" or "RC." Compared to Betas or RCs, these versions contain more bugs. We have an obligation to inform the community of this, and it is up to you whether or not to continue testing these versions. zinoswink
Absolutely, I fully understand Matt! I think it's great you're now differentiating between stable & beta releases. Until you brought it up, I assumed all Thunderbird updates posted were from the stable release channel. Everyone isn't able to work through the typical issues. phen0men4

BluePT
@Matt Doesn't work.
SL0TH
@BluePT Try adding -p to the command-line too, which will load the profile selector. See if that helps. thunderbird -p --allow-downgrade You can also delete compatibility.ini in the profile folder, so that Thunderbird doesn't know the version of the profiles. But this isn't the "proper" way of doing it. BluePT, Sandman and Matt 2
Sandman
@BluePT If you are having issues with profiles use the command: thunderbird -p or thunderbird -profilemanager anyone of them will open Thunderbird Profile Manager. You can then choose the profile you want to use. By the way, the parameter -p can be used with Firefox as well to open its profile manager. BluePT
"p" parameter did the trick. Thanks! SL0TH
zirkach
Or just copy profile folder C:\Users\name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles. Uninstall new version an install version you want, then copy profile folder to new destination. that's all, I work like this for years
Amigaspace
My suggestion: use BetterBird. It's a Thunderbird fork without most of TB's bugs and more features. They know what they are doing, and warn you that the current stable release is 115 and you should not go higher at the moment. It might also accept your current Thunderbird profile as-is and work just fine. This is the best option if you want a more stable and reliable Thunderbird, without changing your configuration etc.. Alternatively: Epyrus. This is different and will require a new profile. Based on an older version of Thunderbird, so, less features (unless you can find and use the more powerful, older extensions) but faster and more reliable than both TB/BB. Gets its own updates, so doesn't really rely on TB any more. Might require some fiddling to fine-tune and configure. Support forum is available with all the answers. This is the advanced option.
