An error message may appear during the update. In this case, the only option is to reinstall 17.5.2.

Quote

“An error has occurred while applying security settings. Users is not a valid user or group.” This could be a problem with the package or a problem connecting to a domain controller on the network. Check your network connecting and click retry or cancel to end install”

The problem: The setup.exe cannot do anything with the “German” user and searches for the English names and groups “Users” and “Authenticated Users”. Hence this error message.

Workaround:

create these two groups and add your own user, then it works! Restart if necessary!

Create groups:

net localgroup /add "Users"
net localgroup /add "Authenticated Users"

Add users to groups:

net localgroup “Users” DOMAIN\user /add
net localgroup “Authenticated Users” DOMAIN\user /add

My tip:
German-speaking users should rather wait for an update
