So the "reset boot id" "replace master boot record" and "replace partition sector boot code" will not delete any information off my windows install? I have changed the boot order last week but even before this when windows still worked it was fine with the a nonordered boot order. The macrium reflect program has selected the boot partition to be the "reserved for windows" partition instead of the main "big" one. Is this a problem? xkryptonx
xkryptonx
As the name suggest, it does pretty much the same as i mentioned here (UEFI): or as you mentioned here (for BIOS/MBR): but still, i suggest take a backup. According to description, it will make changes to boot partition where your bootloader/OS loader exist. It deletes the old loader/BCD, and then scan for bootmgr.efi/bootmgfw.efi or bootmgr.exe based on the type of system you use, Then recreates a new bootloader file that point to bootmgr.efi (for EFI system) or bootmgr.exe (for BIOS / MBR systems,) Marlboro_Red
Solution Marlboro_Red Posted September 7 Author Solution Share Posted September 7 (edited) Hello, people! In short macrium reflect rescue media worked it's magic as I am now responding to this on my laptop. See the proof below in this screenshot of microsoft paint. One resource which has been of help has been the video below as it has provided me with knowledge on where and what the problem was. Even if not directly. For me, the boot folder and all it's subsequent files were intact however the BCD file was somehow missing as is shown in the image below. The one mistake I made is that I used the macrium reflect app itself to create the bootable usb instead of using rufus so that it used MBR instead of UEFI which is the only way the macrium app itself can create the bootable usb. I would like to thank @MrZeb for mentioning the wonderful macrium reflect application and @xkryptonx for the effort put into their replies and answers.
