Siddharta
Who uses this antivirus among you? What opinions do you have? Better than Eset or Kaspersky?
SacredCultivator
I use it, and personally, I have no idea how it is in comparison to Eset/Kaspersky. I used to use Eset, but I just found Avira to be more for 'me'. Not much of a techy, so I don't really know if it's actually good and whatnot =) as I know on this board, Eset is more favored, and on another one, Avira is.I use Premium as don't quite need all the tools from the Suite. Administrator DKT27 Posted April 19, 2010 Administrator Share Posted April 19, 2010 Avira certainly scored better than ESET in most of the AV Comparatives tests.
bashar
the only bad thing about AV is its false positives :frusty:
Siddharta
Avira certainly scored better than ESET in most of the AV Comparatives tests.Well in another AV test Bit Defender was the best, and in another Kaspersky....etc.etc. Many vested interests I'm afraid. But perhaps Avira bothers you with many false positives, not letting you enjoy any keygen for instance!I wonder what Jalaffa thinks of it?
SacredCultivator
I guess it just depends on how you set the settings if anything. As I rarely get false positives, although I do have to admit that for the most part, they are for keygens, but you can simply just add those to the Exceptions list. SacredCultivator
Most probably due to him having done something wrong during installation process or even settings.Or simply put.. bad luck.
Siddharta
Have a look at this review, telling...., I mention it as an example. Review about the best antivirusAvira is in place #9. HX1
I used Avira on my Mom and Dads offline system ( when it was Vista Ultimate ).. Though it seemed to offer good protection ( not best ), high false positives; I did not like the options or interface.. and it did miss a few surprises I threw at it.. Didn't like it.. so I upgraded it back to ESS.. and would prefer it.. ESET is just more robust.. ( been thinking about using them to test out Norton 2010 though ... LOL )
shought
I believe Avira is pretty good, but as you said the interface lacks a certain 'customizability' and it has too many false positives when working with fixes and all.

Siddharta
A Mexican militaryman told me they had discarded Avira and AVG because they didn't meet their standards, Eset , Kaspersky and Bit Defender did. What's more they are using an antivirus which is not in the market made in Sweden I believe. He woudn't tell me more. -_-
