Marlboro_Red
Yesterday I extracted all the files off a corrupted usb stick using r-studio technician. However multiple of them were unreadable .CHK files. What do you know about turning .chk files into the original file format? How do I go about turning all of them into their original format? Here is how it looks like on my end:

andy2004
personally i would use TRID and the latest .trd file.. use it from a command prompt TRID -ce device letter:\folder\folder\ and when you get to the chk files replace with * example C:\filesrecovered\whatevername.chk TRID -CE C:\filesrecovered\* press return files will be renamed samename.chk.gif or .jpg .png etc. https://www.mark0.net/soft-trid-e.html Tux 528

Or how it would even help me? I have tried looking online for how to use it but I haven't found anything of use.
Solution Marlboro_Red Posted August 20 Author Solution Share Posted August 20 I have found the solution. The solution is to recover both the "raw files" partition and the "recognized1" partition while using r-studio technician. That way all those .chk files return to their original format(although without their original filename) without exception and you keep some to all of the original file structure with intact folder names one level above the first files shown when you open the disk along with some to all of the original file names if they were inside a folder.
