Hi, I don't know if this is the right section. I can't update Kaspersky Plus 21.17.7.539(b), let alone install the latest update [21.18.5.438.0.61.0], every time I try, in fact I get the error message figure with the text unknown error I have already tried to use kav remover and completely uninstall the application but the next time I restart by downloading the setup and starting it the installation stops and the unknown error message strangely appears again with the installation of any application kaspersky
I know Windows 11 Pro build 22631.3880

There could be several reason for it. Lets cover it one by one.

1. Traces of previous un/installation that interferes with process.

a. What you can do is reboot you PC and try again.

b. Go to ProgramData\ and delete any Kaspersky Folders there. Then Use KTL to remove traces of any previous products.

c. Use Kaspersky remover to remove traces of previous installation that is not removed properly or when there is a faulty uninstallation.

2. Make sure you have proper installer downloaded from official or trusted source(s)

3. Make sure your internet connection is alive and up while installing the product.

4. Make sure no other AVs are there on this system that could interfere with process.

5. Sometimes, some virus or malicious programs won't allow AVs to install. Use Kaspersky Rescue Disk or Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool to check for such viruses.

KVR Tool:

Kaspersky Rescue Disk:

Hope it helps :)

Thank you all for the answers but I have tried them all but I think there is nothing to be done I tried to uninstall the program from the control panel then I used the removal tool I manually deleted the files present in ProgramData\ the license is original but trial for 6 months so I re-downloaded the setup from the personal area but every time I start the installation or to update it stops with the unknown error message the only thing I haven't tried yet is the ktl

@ilcorsaro73 How about removing registry traces?  If you are sure there are no leftover files on the hard drive, the only place that could have residue traces is the registry.

I think there's an error in your Windows file system. If you've already tried installing the offline version and it didn't work, I recommend you try the following to repair the files.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/sfc-scannow-and-dismexe-online-cleanup-image/db3b24de-a261-403e-9d11-8141d13f7954

Then use Kaspersky's uninstall tools to remove all files including the Registry, and then try installing again

I have already tried the dism and scannow commands as well as manually removing all the entries in the system registry one by one and using programs such as wise registry cleaner revo uninstaller or iobit unistaller but if I try to download the setup and launch it unknown error the beautiful thing and which today updated itself to 21.18.5.438. but if I try to uninstall it normally and reinstall the latest version with offline setup, no unknown error

For me Kaspersky free left Kaspersky as one AV provider in Windows Security Center. Even KAV remover couldn't remove it. Check if there is key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center\Provider\Av\{4F76F112-43EB-40E8-11D8-F7BD1853EA23} left after Kaspersky uninstall. I used Registrar home to remove it and other Kaspersky traces from registry.
