ASUS Com Service (atkexComSvc.exe) don't start after KB5039211 update (Windows 10 22H2)

Hi, a friend asked me to put this problem in discussion here (I don't have a ASUS motherboard):

anyone using ASUS AI Suite 3.x or Aura Sync Utility Legacy with the same problem???
(service can't start - Event error 1503)
I have this problem in 3 pc's... so can't be "only my problem"...
Any feedback or help it's appreciated.
PS: (Uninstalling the update make it work again, but it's not a solution uninstall a security update)

Question: Curious, what folder version do you have where "atkexComSvc" is located.  I currently have v4.03.02.

Note: I've NOT yet installed this update, as I tend to hold off a bit since I'm running one my PC's as media server for Plex.

It seems there is an issue with this update KB5039211 and M$ CONFIRMS this update breaks some apps & taskbar menu

However, in the meantime, you can double-check the services for Asus

  • Start>Run: compmgmt.msc
  • Services and Applications>Services>Asus Com Service (right-click)>Properties>Log On tab>(if not already) here you can add your actual Windows account information to ensure the service runs with "administrator" privileges
    • Note: (If for nothing else, you can use this a test)
  • Next, double-check "Dependencies" tab to ensure (RPC) is running

If this doesn't help, most likely you'll have to wait for M$ to release "fixed" update

~Best of luck~

@bigbrother Thanks for your feedback. The solution for this problem is uninstall all ASUS stuff and update the BIOS to latest release and reinstall ASUS apps. It worked. (I advise people with same problem, to use Total Uninstall by Martau to delete all ASUS stuff from the affected pc's and clean the registry, update BIOS to latest release for your motherboard and reinstall used ASUS AISuite3.1, Aura Sync Legacy Utility 1.07.84_V2 (or older 1.07.79_V2.2 if you use Aura compatible GSKill RAM) or Armoury Crate latest build. Some "old" motherboards are affected by this problem if not using latest BIOS, in our case, ASUS ROG STRYX Z390-F Gaming and ASUS X-570-F Gaming.

Microsoft changed the way operating system access BIOS with latest security update, so BIOS update is mandatory to solve this problem.

I also advise all people to not use the bloatware Armoury Crate and use the legacy AuraSync Utility instead to control your AURA stuff. I someone needs links for any of the ASUS software described here. please let me know.

@BluePT

Glad to hear you got it sorted!

Yeah, I love ASUS, especially their motherboards.

It's too bad, some of their "proprietary" software can be "bloatware" & problematic.

I truly wish they would offer individual packages (like legacy) instead of the "Armoury Crate" suite.

I really ONLY want to use the "FanXpert" software!

~Cheers~
