LeetPirate
If I use nvidia drivers 196.21 I have no problems. If I upgrade to nvidia drivers 197.13 or 197.45 all my videos stutter when using ffdshow and media player classic home cinema. I know the problem is either nvidia or ffdshow because playback on any other video player that does not depend on ffdshow works fine. When I use CoreAVC hardware accelerated codec for HD playback there is no stutter so once again the problem looks to be with ffdshow but I know nvidia drivers are not perfect so it could be the drivers too.Any ideas? madmax012
i also have the same problem with all the 197.xx drivers....although 196.21 work fine.... for me the problem occurs only with all the EVR renderers in mpc-hc... other players work fine..i dont know whats causing the problem but many people on other forums have suggested that this problem is due to the nvidia drivers.. LeetPirate
I am doing some reading on some other forums at the moment to see what I could figure out. I decided to try out this guide I found for MPC but the stuttering got worse after I was done, LOL.
HX1
What about your VSync? Tried settings there..? and have you checked the file properties to make sure that the extension reflects the encoding? Have seen that weird little problem occur.. Just the other day as a matter of fact .. I have been doing some codec changeover and upgrading.. building a library.. The thing that got me was that certain files would not do thumbnails.. I found that checking the properties and changing the extension to reflect it actually fixed the thumbnails and the skipping on two of them.. ( Moved from Win7Cdecs to or rather back to K-Lite, much better ) abcAVI Tag Editor will actually allow more info to be show about the file itself on mouseover.. one of the tools I used along with Loading the file in MPC and going to Properties.Do you use any other player that uses the FFDshow Filters? Possibly it could be a settings not directly related.. but more of one of the settings within MPC itself..
LeetPirate
I tried many combinations of settings including vsync, nothing worked. From what I have been reading I believe this is a problem with nvidia drivers. Probably has something to do with media player classic as well because I tried BS player which uses its own copy of ffdshow and the same avi file played correctly in BS player. As soon as I get some time I will probably revert to the older nvidia drivers where everything worked. I really was hoping to find a working solution to this but I have not found any as yet. :(

LeetPirate
Whats the version of MPC?Every release from K-Lite 5.8.0 up to 5.9.0beta. None of them made a difference.
HX1
Yeah I asked because the version at the site from SourceForge has an older version number from the ones in K-Lite.. Have you tried the older one?
LeetPirate
Yeah I asked because the version at the site from SourceForge has an older version number from the ones in K-Lite.. Have you tried the older one?Nah I think the only older one may have been 5.7.0 or something so. I could possibly try out the non home cinema edition but I doubt it would make a difference. HX1
I found out something interesting today.. I thought I had all issues covered with K-Lite .. but today while playing Winamp Visualizations, I noticed that I had several AVS's that were not playing rendering correctly.. after comparing backups and so on.. the tag editor let me know that the AVI's that are a part of the visualizations.. and there are several other files.. are Intel/Indeo Video 5 Wavelet encoded.. I tried to play a few and a few would and some would not.. So I did a search and found that while Microsoft included codecs for this by default, they don't work properly and that people ad issues with this since the release of Vista.. so I found this solution.. ( and they also say you can turn on support for it in K-Lite but I have yet to find it ..Source of the thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistamedia/thread/09ad3325-ef04-4f32-a888-522703e9dfb8Fix:Windows 7 32-bit Fix - Should work in Vista too In windows 7 download the codec pack from here: http://www.filewatcher.com/m/iv5setup.exe.2068266.0.0.html THEN go to command prompt and Run as administrator if you don’t run as admin you will get an error. in command prompt type: regsvr32 ir50_32.dll Took me ages to figure this out After this things seemed to work out.. Now MPC will even play the Video files..
Bizarre™
@LeetPirate:Are you using the latest unstable release of ffdshow?
LeetPirate
Same thing has been happening since K-Lite 5.7.0. By that I don't mean an older version of K-Lite fixes the problem, just that it's v5.7.0 I had when I first tried updating my nvidia drivers from 196.21. I have tried all the versions of K-Lite from 5.7.0 up to 5.9.0 beta and they all have the same result. Whenever I reinstall K-Lite or nvidia I be sure to clean out the old files, for nvidia I use driver cleaner .net.I do not believe the problem lies with any intel/microsoft codecs because the same avi plays correctly in Windows Media Player 12 which is not using ffdshow. Also BS player uses its internal ffdshow and the avi plays properly in BS player. These results are suggesting the problem is with media player classic and not ffdshow. I think I will just use BS player or normal WMP until a this problem fixes itself.
HX1
Okay .. View > Options.. then Output > Direct Show > Old Renderer is that selected?..and Does this happen from files on the same drive or are they on another media like a Disc or something? Is MPC using external or internal filter for FFdshow? ( there are exclusion in the Video Decoder settings )
LeetPirate
These are what the settings look like on that page. I manually tried all the settings and there was no improvement. The settings you see are the defaults before I changed them. I am going to reinstall k-lite and use MPC instead of MPC-HomeCinema.
HX1
Try making it look like this..attachment cleanup.. And then see if ts smooth.. I had an issue with my Tiny only slightly DirectX 9 64 MB Video Crap Card.. and when I killed the EVRS s@#$.. and went with the Old s#$%.. everything was fine.. :thumbsup:Oh and you don't have to make it all black.. Dotnetnightmare
"DON"T USE MPC" The development has been staggeringly slow. Use SPLAYER to get all the benefits of MPC as GABEST helped build it. GABEST is the creator of MPC. He helped to create SPLAYER. It is being developed actively and is the only player on the market to feature ground breaking innovations. www.splayer.org/index.en.html

LeetPirate
I saw on nvidia driver release highlights that they fixed some issue with media player classic playback but I'm using this driver and it does not fix my issue. This is a WHQL-certified driver for GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, 200, and 300-series desktop GPUs and ION desktop GPUs.
