HX1
I was going to say it earlier.. but I guess I will go ahead and do it.. But why do you just pay closer attention to the installer when you run it.. or even just go with Phantom?
Night Owl
Really crossed with Foxit for violating my rights to violate they right- got stuuupid toolbar self installed- gone for good!So I will never ever use Adobe...Foxit makes Foxit Reader and Foxit Phantom. Like heath28m, I use Foxit Phantom and it is excellent.Adobe makes Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat. So I don't know what you mean. You said Foxit violated your rights so you will never use Adobe. But they are two different companies.  Like heath28m said, we need to pay attention to installers. More and more keep trying to add toolbars, usage statistics, error reporters, automatic update checks, etc. Just say no!!
HX1
Yeah and I have noticed with some of these toolbars and search engine addons that there are two of three which need to be unchecked.. not just the one that says you don't want ti or to say you don't agree with the policy.. one will back it out.. but you should unselect it first..then the other.. I have never had a problem..( recently ) except with a uT installer which was updated immediately to repair it.. Yahoo Messenger used to be REALLY bad with this crap.. now everybody has a plugin or a toolbar or an updater of some sort.. instead of putting it all in one place to be managed.. or something.. like in an area with Windows Update would be nice.. BUT anyway.. yeah..

Foxit had misbehaved too and I have chosen better application for the task. Those are enough of reasons to not to like/use them any more. Since reading your "valuable and expressive opinions", I have done a bit of reinstalling to make sure- as I am now- once Foxit installed without toolbar Opera PDF page management had not initialised to open a document- froze. I have had same experience earlier, but wasn't sure. to get over this issue you need to go to Opera's settings to specify Foxit as default PDF console... or get decent tool like CoolPDF and enjoy F. Phantom - why not?- no need

However, I do agree that the setup size is massive (not to mention the daunting size of each update.) :oEdit:-Personally, I prefer the Adobe Acrobat Professional but where my Customers are concerned, I install Adobe Reader (Lite)

Phantom - why not?- no needI don't know why you're making fun of me and heath28m and being sarcastic with us. dcs18 said he was going to type exactly the same thing I did. We were just trying to help you.Good to hear that you got Foxit Reader working with Opera. Foxit Phantom works great for me with Opera, Firefox, Google Chrome, SRWare Iron, and Internet Explorer. OK, you like CoolPDF. To each his own.@dcs18: I have to agree, I used Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional when I was using Windows Vista and it definitely wins in terms of sheer functionality (with a setup size to match). But now that I'm running Windows 7, Foxit Phantom is usually all I really need and it's so fast and it doesn't have frequent security patches. Adobe Acrobat Professional is great at preserving Web links and I miss that sometimes when using Foxit Phantom.
HX1
I actually kind of agree Foxit serves as a plugin.. and viewer. with slight editing.. but if I need something edited I go for the throat with the CS4 Master Collection..
Administrator DKT27 Posted April 16, 2010 Administrator Share Posted April 16, 2010 I used to run Foxit plugin based Firefox. But then I thought I should just use it as a reader. ANW, Foxit does has it's own vulnerabilities, one of them, I read it on CNET about 2 weeks ago. It mentioned something about a unpatch critical vulnerability in Foxit.
