jalaffa
<img src="http://www.nsanedown.com/images/logos/java.png" class="logo" alt="Java" title="Java" />The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) provides the libraries, the Java Virtual Machine, and other components to run applets and applications written in the Java programming language. In addition, two key deployment technologies are part of the JRE: Java Plug-in, which enables applets to run in popular browsers; and Java Web Start, which deploys standalone applications over a network. This is the official Java Download from Sun Microsystems. <a href="http://www.nsanedown.com/?request=19758519" target="_blank">Download</a>
HX1
This may be a better link for non developers http://java.com/en/ ( not to mention the site seemed to be jacked trying to get there for some reason, it straightened out but it just looks odd, seems it all looks a little different )EDIT: Actually.. due to the site getting jacked on load.. I couldn't see what it was supposed to be ... but its basically the same since it goes to the JRE.. I think they might have been working on the site because I got an error as well that the connection could not be made and then it came back and was fine but still with a loading error.. So dunno.. SacredCultivator
Thanks hmm... @heath28m: The link you gave... Does it pretty much do the same thing? As I'm not a Developer and the size is about 5mb's smaller, so I wouldn't mind switching to the link you provided if that's teh only difference ^^
HX1
Well the link gave is the one you and all of the average users who do not write and develop applications and code with Java need..The one at the main site goes to the developer pages, which contains about 5 different versions plus other options that only contain bloat for those who do not write code or require any other options/files..So basically it gives you an offline or online installer.. the version you need ( Runtime Environment only ) with the quick starter and so on. The link I put up is supposed to be the link everyone goes to anyway.. The other one is if your really special..LOL ( that's how I like to put it.. LOL ).. anyway picks the one you need or you can list them all and download the one for your OS.. but regardless it is still only the JRE.. not JRE SE SEE .. blah blah.. ( EDIT: See first post..ORACLE changeover site error/issue probably ) and you check to see if you have it installed, what version and even play around a little with some examples.. You can take off the 'en' too and get in the localization of choice by default.. http://java.com
Jota.Ce
@heath: Do you mean that jre-6u20-windows-i586.exe (15.5MB) is bloated?I always downloaded JRE.But java.com is offering javaxpiinstall.exe (~10MB), which seems to be only for Java applets in web pages.I have Java applications, even minigames, so in that case i think i'd need JRE.Anyway i hate Java, so i'd prefer being away from slow shittyness. HX1
No I had a problem loading the site, at which point somehow it went to another page on there site which was still jacked up.. and was on the Developer side.. At which point..I found myself looking at the LARGE downloads of the HUGE packages.. for developers.. in which instance you download and install BY mistake.. a bunch of crap you won't ever need.. I edited both posts yesterday hoping to deter any further confusion but should have corrected or wiped them out all together like I thought..BUT HEY Nevertheless.. there is a direct link to the basics java.comThe two you mentioned are exactly the same .. one is online and downloads its files and one doesn't..EDIT: Actually I was wrong the XPI install maybe different.. ( I thought you were talking about something else..BUT I guess you could be right in that .. LOLYou will have to excuse I have been a having a rough few days.. sorry.. Administrator DKT27 Posted April 15, 2010 Administrator Share Posted April 15, 2010 Thanx for the update. :)I just give up JDK. So many months of it installed on my PC and I'm still not interested in learning it. I didn't even feel to start learning it. I'm off to learn different languages... Already started, and seems very interesting. So only JRE for me.

I could post direct download links for them all. To me it seems applicable only for users running IE 64-bit version. I'm not aware of any other browsers (official) that is 64-bit. When I'm doing an update on my Win 7 64-bit setup I use the 32-bit version of Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE)
