Administrator Matt Posted April 1 Administrator Share Posted April 1 Nero excels your multimedia power with a collection of three products bundled into one powerful suite. It's loaded with advanced video editing features, media organizer and player, superior burning software, reliable backup technology, and special multimedia tools to enhance your music, photos and videos. Nero Burning ROM has the additional features of the Multimedia Suite excluded. Nero BurnLite contains simply data burning and disc copying features for CDs and DVDs. nsaner2006
2 hours ago, Nuclear Fallout said: It has become redundant. Death by competition. I got a usb burner to backup/rip some home videos from a decade ago. I usually prefer opensource software now, and I noticed that ImgBurn is recommended a lot, but it hasn't been updated since 2013. What is Nero's competition that you recommend now? either free or paid?

mdm
CDBurnerXP - Also not updated since 2019, but works just fine, and is 100% free. 😉 Or the updated AnyBurn, but has a Pro version too. Both have a portable version. Others here from the list. nsaner2006
jvidal
the reason why I prefer Nero is becasue it's the only one able to propertly overburn discs. I also use cdburner XP, but it is incapable of overburning.
mdm
Huh? Works for me... And it even says so on the site FAQ here (the last question): Quote Q: Is overburning possible? A: Yes. Just add as much data to CD layout as possible and start burning (ignore warning messages if any). Maybe it is just your burner that do not cooperate well..? jvidal
like I said, overburning has only worked for me on Nero. Additionally, Nero supports a "short lead-out block" options, which adds another extra 12MB or so to a disc. uVSthem
Yes, the short short lead-out block is the main reason I still use Nero. Nero Video isn't bad to author a video disc quickly. I really hope someone comes up with a fix for the Nero suite at some point.
