Dune: Part Two’s new trailer teases Christopher Walken’s emperor

The second half of the Dune story hits theaters on November 3rd.

There are a lot of returning faces in the latest trailer for Dune: Part Two. Timothée Chalamet’s Paul getting prepared to lead an uprising; Stellan Skarsgård’s terrifying Baron; and Zendaya actually getting to do things in her role as Chani. But perhaps most interesting is what’s new — including our first proper look at Christopher Walken as the intimidating emperor Shaddam IV.

The new movie will pick up right where the last one left off, given that Part One ended very abruptly and only told half of the story from the original novel. Here’s the basic setup:

Dune: Part Two will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Denis Villeneuve is still directing, and the sequel has retained much of the production and editing talent, so, at the very least, it should be just as beautiful as the original. It hits theaters on November 3rd.

If you read the books you will find out something very interesting about the Dune universe.  A terrible war was fought eons ago against AI. Which is why it is banned throughout the known systems.

They are defined as "thinking machines" and the closest to them are the Mentats. The human computer data bases. Thufir hawat and Piter de vries.

Which is why you see men still fighting hand to hand while you have this seemingly magical technology like the Spacers Guild. Computers were outlawed and for good measure!

And you should see what the Bene Tleilax are doing! Which was their own undoing when they created the face dancers. A rich world indeed!

The son picked up where his father left off and expanded the universe in wonderful books that I have read with delight. And you have the story of this terrible AI war ;)

A must really to anyone who likes Dune. The depth and intricacies of the world created by Frank Herbert and his son thereafter are only equaled, and not comparable, someone once said, to The Lord Of The Rings.
