Sun Java Runtime Environment 6.0 Update 19

<img src="http://www.nsanedown.com/images/logos/java.png" class="logo" alt="Java" title="Java" />The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) provides the libraries, the Java Virtual Machine, and other components to run applets and applications written in the Java programming language. In addition, two key deployment technologies are part of the JRE: Java Plug-in, which enables applets to run in popular browsers; and Java Web Start, which deploys standalone applications over a network. This is the official Java Download from Sun Microsystems.

Thanx for the update. :)

Am I the only one or anyone else is also feeling that they have decreased the size of Java Development Kit a bit.

Never quite noticed that =P, but I guess that's a good thing and probably due to code cleanup. As we all know unnecessary codings can build up the filesize as well as other factors.

Had anyone faced this problem before? I had installed x64 version of Java on my PC but as Firefox is x32 only, it didn't install java plugin in Firefox, in order to have it, I had to install x32 of JRE and it installed even when x64 was installed. Seems similar to K-lite.

@DKT27: The x64 version is just for 64-bit browsers like Internet Explorer (64-bit). You have to install the x32 version of JRE for your 32-bit browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc.).

UPDATE: The x32 version of JRE is also for the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer.

Yea that's what I thought, I don't understand why they have included both IE x32 and x64 in Windows 7 if I'm not wrong. Similar with Adobe Photosho, I have installed x64 version but it has still made a whole directory for x32 with icons and files in addition to x64. :frusty:

I would not like that if I had x64, I would want it as clean as x32.. kind of ignorant and seems like poor programming procedure if in fact it is to run 32bit files.. though I could see why in some cases there might be an issue rewriting the code to work for x64...

IE x32 and IE x64 are both available on Windows 7 x64, Windows Vista x64, and Windows XP x64. Here's a bit of information about IE 64-bit: Success of 64-bit Internet Explorer Depends on Adobe:

No 64-bit Flash = no point in surfing the Web with 64-bit Internet Explorer.

And here's an MSDN blog post from January 2005 about the 64-bit browser in Windows x64.

Yes, some x64 programs (such as iTunes) install into both the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders. Others, such as Revo Uninstaller Pro and ESET NOD32 Antivirus, only install into the Program Files folder.
