i have installed windows 10 on an asrock H77 Pro4/MVP mother board, installed the sound drivers from asrock website and it has no sound for some reason.

if i open up the sound settings whilst playing a video i can see the sound output meter going up and down like it is knowing there is sound there but not coming out of the speakers or head phones in any of the ports.

yes i have tried the speakers and head phones on other computer and they work fine but not on this computer.

any ideas how to fix??

did you check to make sure its not set to MUTE. under volumn control.

it also seems it doesnt support Win10..

*Windows® 8.1 is supported with Intel® Ivy Bridge CPU for onboard VGA.

Is that PC newly assembled PC or old PC?

Did you try built-in input/output jack at the back of the MB?

Very old, look at the website: https://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/h77 pro4mvp/

And even cars make bad sounds after 10 years... ;)

And he also could try S/PDIF optical instead.

come to the conclusion its 1 of 3 things..

1.. its the drivers for windows 10.. or should that be the version of the drivers..

2..windows 10..

3.. maybe the sound chip is gone.. of the 3.5in socket..

2. before upgrading to win10 did it work under the previous installation.. if yes.. then its 99.9% driver related.

old install never had speakers so no idea if it ever worked.

well.. you've tested the speakers and they are working..

the computer shows the bars when playing music/videos.. but no sound..

therefore must be a driver issue.. go into device manager.. and look for a yellow ! in a triangle..

option 2.. uninstall the sound drivers.. and reinstall a different version of the drivers..

maybe it an issue with those particular ones.. the version i posted was the latest i could find.. under your motherboard, on the main site..
