Booted from Safe Mode CMD Promt. Did chkdsk on all the drives. My E drive had hell mumber of corrupt sectors or whatever chkdsk does. My E is like program files for me. And the most corrupt files were of Safari that I thought I did clean uninstall long time ago. mad.gif In the end of the E: chkdsk, the report showed 0KB bad clusters recovered even after recovering a lots of them in read. huh.gif . I got another BSOD later. So I guess it's not related to HDD either.

Oh problems. sleep.gif

I am going to catch a flight out of here tonight.. I will be showing up on your doorstep with a 50 cal Desert Eagle.. so don't be surprised.. and I am going to put a bullet in the POS your using... seriously something has gone stupid hard core... I think you should go get your parts and put your computer together yourself..

Next year this time.. your tech will be praying and your computer will still be 'ON its way..'

@DKT27:

Maybe you should do an upgrade reinstall of XP.

I always do it when my system wants to screw up.

Hate to say it, but at this point-in-time I feel the same way.

@ DKT27

We look forward to your new rig. ;)

I thought doing SFC /SCANNOW, but then I remembered that last time I did it, it took 1 to 2 hours. As I can see the corrupt/problematic system files are one of the reasons behind BSODs. Like NTFS.sys in one of the first series of BSOD, and win32k.sys in the recent one.

If everything goes well, I'll get it tomorrow, and will start from Sunday.

Did SFC /SCANNOW. I did insert a CD before starting it. But odd, normally, even when there's a CD, it asks that you insert one and click OK. But it didn't. I feel it didn't replace any file. Any way I can see SFC /SCANNOW logs?

@DKT27:

You can also see the activities of SFC in Event Viewer:

My Computer (right click, select Manage) > Computer Management > Event Viewer > System

You should have been able to see what file(s) were modified and has been restored by SFC.

Yea I think he's on Windows 7 and I read somewhere that from Vista, logs are saved in a better way, and in Windows/Logs directory. I simply find there "2" log files named directx and dated quite long time ago.

didn't your sfc tell you where u can find the log file?

after it halted, mine showed ..

C:\sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 6% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of th
em.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

You could try using Process Monitor though. I believe it can help you track which files are modified/accessed by which running app.

SFC is quite different in Windows 7 from XP. ;)

There's no folder named CBS in logs folder(XP). :unsure:

If I'm right, SFC /SCANNOW did solve my problem. ;)
