flash13
Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier. Google Chrome also uses a brand new javascript engine (V8), which is much faster than existing javascript interpreters. This means you can create more complex and more intensive AJAX applications with fewer speed and processing constraints. Finally, Google Chrome is built on top of Blink (WebKit fork), so Google Chrome users will benefit from the CSS3 features being added to Blink (WebKit fork) as those features are released. Administrator Matt Posted October 30, 2021 Administrator Share Posted October 30, 2021 @Kalju quoting your recent report. Quote This remark is completely wrong and does not understand why it is necessary to give people the wrong information. Recommendation: Correct or eliminate incorrect information. Currently it is 100% wrong. About this information we have on Chrome FP. Quote Note: Users will get the updates automatically if the basic online installers provided by Google are used. The offline setup installers do not seem to allow for updates automatically. This information is correct 100%. Here is some screenshot from whenever you do have your Chrome from the online installer and offline one. As you see the offline link can't update or tells you if your Chrome browser is up to date just like the online installer.
Kalju
Unfortunately, two (or rather three) very important things are mixed up here, which is a network installer (You call it as online installer), an offline installer and a Chrome updater (it is the same what is the first, ie it is online installer or if other ways to say - autoupdater). These are, at first glance, three completely different things. In fact, however, two completely different things, because Chrome online installer is also Chrome's automatic updater. And one more thing. The original Chrome packages downloaded from the developer server are without any add-ons, including without the Chrome Auto Update program, and of course they can't be updated automatically, and you'll see an image like the last one in your post. Google Chrome and Google Chrome Browser Updater are two completely independent programs, and when you download the so-called online installation package, you're actually downloading only the Google Chrome Automatic Updater, which in turn triggers the download and installation of Chrome. Alternatively, you can download the full package, which includes both Chrome Automatic Updates and Chrome itself, as well as many additional features not included in the Chrome package itself. Also, the packages you download from the Chromium Developer Server and the Google Server are completely different. Finally, you can only download the Chrome Updater, known as the Chrome Online Installer. But You can Also download the full Chrome package, which includes both the automatic updater and the Chrome package, and finally - You can download only the Chrome package, which comes from the developer's server and does not include add-ons, but is only basic Chrome itself. Installers are available as .exe files and .msi files/packages. Chrome developer packages are not actually installers, but self-extracting compressed .zip packages, what should be extracted twice to get Chrome and put them in correct folders. Is all this too complicated? Maybe because Google Chrome is really a little different from regular programs, but only a little bit. Installing or uninstalling Chrome is also different of most other programs and apps... And I'm very sorry about that, when most people still don't know anything about it. Chromium/Chrome officially released first on September 2, 2008. Here are some links The Google Chrome online installer (actually autoupdater) https://www.google.com/chrome/ or https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/?platform=win32 https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/?platform=win64 Note! To get the 32-bit version, you must have 32-bit Windows, otherwise you will always be redirected to the 64-bit version page, and you can only install the 64-bit version of Chrome. 32-bit is now history. Google Chrome Offline installers (actually an offline installer/automatic updater and Chrome package). https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/?standalone=1 or https://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?system=true&standalone=1&platform=win32 https://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?system=true&standalone=1&platform=win64 Google Chrome .msi packages (popularly Chrome Enterprise or Chrome for Business) - There are two different package variants. https://chromeenterprise.google/browser/download/#windows-tab And finally, the ones that are mistakenly called "Offline Installers" in this forum, but in reality they are only primary Chorme packages, which are actually self-opening .zip packages from the developers' servers) Spoiler Note: Time is GMT/UTC in Administrator Matt Posted October 30, 2021 Administrator Share Posted October 30, 2021 @Kalju so what are the links you would suggestion to add in the FP exactly to avoid such error and also to remove that notice?
Kalju
So, what kind of links should post or not to post? This one of the million dollars questions and of corse, I'm not the right person to ansver. But I have some thoughts about todays life at all... Spoiler Everyone/every person/user should always download all installation packages using only the links provided on the manufacturer's website. Therefore, only links to the manufacturer's website should be posted to third parties who are not official resellers and do not have a product resale agreement and do not use the corresponding special links. Of course, everyone chooses the right package for them, but the information about the packages should not be misleading or even wrong. So my recommendation is to just post links to the website and do it in a way that has all the options, not just some weird and unreasonable choices. Of course, links to official third-party resellers may also be provided, provided that such agreements exist. Yet the world must one day behave in a civilized and respectful manner with all its fellow human beings. This is my recommendation and also my wish, but unfortunately I do not see any signs of moving towards improvement. On the contrary. What is worst, however, is that there is no sign of improving and increasing people's knowledge and skills. Today, the knowledge and especially the skills of each subsequent generation are smaller than those of the previous one. It's sad, but it's true, and it certainly shouldn't be. People no longer want to know anything, but they are no longer able to understand many things, even if they really want to. It may not be appropriate to recall an African proverb here, but it sounds something like this: "If you're dead, for a long time. If you're stupid, for the rest of your life." I hope everyone understood that this was not said about anyone personally, but just came to mind now. To sum up: it's a long story and could philosophize for a long time, but that's not the subject of this post. So, please post only correct links with correct explanation. Administrator Matt Posted October 30, 2021 Administrator Share Posted October 30, 2021 Okay. I will take a look at this one with @Frontpage Staff in order to have a different links for Chrome browser. Thanks @Kaljufor reporting it even though the note we have is correct. Kalju
You can do what you want and post exactly what you want, but please refrain from posting personal comments and any kind of suggestions that are based on someone's personal perceptions and are unfortunately not true. If you post links, do so, but without any kind of personal comments. And I repeat once again, this comment is 100% wrong! If you really can't figure it out, no one can help you, but there's a chance you won't post any personal comments. It's not the only place with wrong or at least outdated and misleading comments. Why should such a comments be there at all? Whom are these comments useful? I think, You know that exist a people, who can't see red color/colour if the background is green and anyone can't help them. They are daltonics and stay daltonics until the end of life. But it doesn't mean that these two colors/colours doesn't exist. And there is no needs for comment that somebody said that there is at all no red and green colors/colours. And one more question. What's the point of asking for feedback about mistakes or problems if they're never taken into account? PS. Sorry, but one question about on another very weird thing. Why is the header set to a fixed position, why does it have to be stared at all the time, and the rest of the text is visible like througth "lock hole" or some kind of slot, especially on smaller screens, it's very annoying. Why is it necessary to stare at this completely meaningless and useless header all time and everywhere? Whos "very clever idea" it is? Once you have read, you can delete all my posts and questions and live on as if nothing had ever happened. I'm not going to write anything here anymore. Seems to be absolutely pointless. Good luck. I have tested the links on FP my self this is where the screenshots came from, and you see again the offline links we have on the FP are causing this issue with auto update which we will replace them soon. 3 hours ago, Kalju said: Once you have read, you can delete all my posts and questions and live on as if nothing had ever happened. I don't know what changes you're talking about, but I know I'm not making any changes anywhere, it's just not possible. I'm not a member of the Google team, I'm just a regular user. So, I don't understand what changes you're talking about or what changes I'm making or have made or want to make. But it would still be interesting to know. If you know all this, then it's probably your level of thinking, and I can't change that either. Use what you want and what you know how to use, but name things with the right names. The installer is installer and any simply compressed package is just a package, but not the installer. Even then, if it is self-extracting .zip, .rar or .7z package it will still be a package only. And here and now we talking about installers, but not about anything else.
kitkatforme013
On 10/30/2021 at 4:40 PM, Kalju said: Unfortunately, two (or rather three) very important things are mixed up here, which is a network installer (You call it as online installer), an offline installer and a Chrome updater (it is the same what is the first, ie it is online installer or if other ways to say - autoupdater). Google Chrome Offline installers (actually an offline installer/automatic updater and Chrome package). https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/?standalone=1 or https://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?system=true&standalone=1&platform=win32 https://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?system=true&standalone=1&platform=win64 Google Chrome .msi packages (popularly Chrome Enterprise or Chrome for Business) - There are two different package variants. https://chromeenterprise.google/browser/download/#windows-tab And finally, the ones that are mistakenly called "Offline Installers" in this forum, but in reality they are only primary Chorme packages, which are actually self-opening .zip packages from the developers' servers) Reveal hidden contents Note: Time
