info999
I am using 4G mobile connection and having a very strange issue. My IP address is being detected differently by different websites. Eg. 114.125.22.59 by http://lumtest.com/myip.json 114.125.5.81 by github.com 114.125.7.111 by whatismyip.com 114.125.22.59 by https://whatismyipaddress.com/ 114.125.4.211 by google 114.125.5.81 by https://www.ipaddress.my/ note that lumtest.com and whatismyipaddress.com report the same IP and github and ipaddress.my report the same IP I know about Dynamic and Static IP. With Dynamic iP, you get a different IP everytime you reset the router. But the problem is I did not reset my router at all, all those IP addresses came from the same connection The same website eg lumtest.com always report the same IP no matter how many times I reload it, I get a different IP only when I use another website like whatismyip.com whatismyipaddress.com etc What the hell is going on ? What is my real IP ? I am confused
Administrator Matt Posted September 10, 2021 Administrator Share Posted September 10, 2021 @info9994G or any mobile connection will always change depends on the tour you are connected with, and they don't use a fixed IP address. All have internet services now days have dynamic IP addresses, and on Phones they use DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol).

Dynamic IP address has a wild range of IPs, and the site you were trying to check your IP through them has a different script to check what's your IP address. Now my current IP on our site system says my IP is from Netherlands, yet it should be in USA. On a mobile network, most locations are approximate and may include adjacent towns. You're lucky since it still says you're from the same country. However, it should be strange in my situation because it claims I'm from a different country. In the end you should be lucky having an internet connection, so who cares what script they are using to show from where are you.

I see For my job, I need my IP address to be in a specific city, do you know which website is the most accurate ? Also my IP changes automatically from time to time even though I don't reset my router, do you know how to prevent that ?

It also could differ if, to chek your IP, you use different VPN/Proxy/Proxifier services or different browsers with their VPNs enabled (feature or extension). A standard connection is not static but, if you need it, you can use a DDNS service, for specific functions like, for example, video survillance or access to your local network (eg. a NAS), when you are logged to other networks. Moreover, some services to check your IP are not 100% trustable...

It's kind of impossible. The only solution for you to have that is using a VPN as @GlacialMansuggested above, but here is a good news for you if you are willing to spend some money. Some VPN services offer a static IP address that you can buy.

DLord
I just tried all the mentioned sites and they are all showing the same IP address for my connection (Wired ADSL2+). Gotta be your wireless (4G) connection. Maybe it is multi-connecting to different nodes (bouncing off) while maintaining the connection. It is normal for mobile connections to receive coverage from multiple nodes, based on coverage area.
