The old 3GB setup is faster, although the results are close. (You did make some mistake with the screenshots as the bottom left screens on the two images are identical.)

Yeah, 667 is better, but it's strange how copying is so low. And, yeah I agree, why would they put different brands. If you can replace that 533, I would replace for 4GB of 667, or see if you get faster HDD, that's probably your problem with slow loading. Just look the RAM speeds of read/write. Speed is in GB/s, 5 for read, 3 for write. There is no way that RAM is cause for you slow loading. HDD is the cause.

Cheers ;)

The bottom line:

When using a slower memory speed on a computer, the computer will be slower when accessing the memory. This is assuming that the computer can run the memory at that slower speed. When putting in a faster memory speed, the memory will default to the computer specified memory speed. If your computer is rated at 667 and you put in a 533 memory, then the computer will run at 533, if possible. If your computer is rated at 533 and you put in a 667, then your computer will default to the 533. Basically, a memory can step down. Get the facts from the computer manual.

If you want significant improvement, use SSD. In most notebook computer, the 5400 RPM hard drive is slowing everything down. The computer will go as fast as the slowest component. You want the slowest component to be the users. You want the computer to wait for you and not you waiting for the computer.
