Tickler
My disk space is running short. I was going to purchase 5TB WD My Passport as it probably provides maximum storage but then I came across an article that mentioned about 5 TB WD My Passport getting slower when data is being rewritten/overwritten on the drive due to use of drive managed shingling. So I am wondering if it is better to go for 4 TB instead 5 TB?

andy2004
Simple reason why its gets slower.. every hdd lower than 8tb has to load the data previous on the hdd before it writes the new data.. due to the way they are built.. I forget the technical terms.. 8tb drives and above dont hence they are faster.. as they dont have to read the data on the same platter before writing.. So its best to go for a 8tb drive.
