Been using many firewalls through the years, on and off including COMODO and Online Armor (not together.) Have never faced a BSOD caused directly by a firewall misbehavior. :nono:

Most of my BSODs have been traced directly to NOD32 drivers. :(

When NOD32 introduced V3, they integrated the firewall module into the antivirus program without leaving Users with an option to de-select the firewall component during installation. This met with strong resistance from tech-savvy Users who preferred to run an independent firewall program instead of the Noobish firewall module built into V3. Many Users experienced random BSODs caused mostly by conflicts from the firewall module (not antivirus module) of NOD32. ;)

COMODO was wise in leaving Users with the option to leave the antivirus module de-selected during installation. It's a great firewall, but the antivirus sucks (maybe COMODO should be made to pay pension to Users who install the antivirus component.) :P

Sorry.. but I love ESET and all.. LOL.. I went to version 3 from the ever popular 2.. and combining the new features in 3, mixed with my vacancy of knowledge about what it all meant.. My assessment of 3 was that it was all THUMBS DOWN... I still dealt with it though.. Never got a BSOD.. but I didn't upgrade until after the first or second change to three which addressed the firewall..

Version 4..( wondering what 4.2 will bring in ) was like 'AHHHHH...' that was after I figured out why when I turned it all on.. what IDS was and did and why I didn't have a connection that would last through loading a website.. ( Given and taking into consideration the stupid little things that were going on with my connection - Like using OpenDNS, without changing the configuration on my network card's DNS settings.. therefore triggering some alerts and causing the connection to drop .. because it seemed as though I was being poisoned.. ) Problems coming from missing something.. and not thoroughly configuring other areas..

Windows 7 has me thinking though, about checking out its Firewall.. quite a bit if change from Windows XP, to Windows Vista and then to 7...

but yeah back on Topic.. anything that interacts with your drivers, or is a driver loaded.. can cause things of this nature..

I'm going back to v3. This version has some problems. Like uTorrent's port is not allowed(forwarded) even when I've made every rule possible to allow them. They are working perfectly when firewall is disabled.

@DKT27:

I have tested v4 in a virtual environment, and I'm disappointed that it doesn't pass CLT: DDE, COAT test.

I'm having no problems with v3 though. I guess I'll wait for the next release and hope everything's fixed.

@ DKT & Bizarre™

:yes: V3 seems great on the performance front (feel sorry for the ESS ranking, though.) :(

Odd. Comodo asked and downloaded an update. But the version or build number has not changed. :unsure:
