uffbros
Mine is Sergei Strelec's WinPE https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/sergei_strelecs_winpe.html I assume since this is freeware that I didn't need the sharecode way of posting the link?? flyg
Hirens is still a thing! Last update was 2 years ago but it still helps me fix loads of systems. First hit on google and whack it on a usb.
neofita
+1 for Strelec (although I don't see any future developments) https://sergeistrelec.ru/ hiren's is severely outdated IMHO regards

gandalf44
I know that it is a huge download. But I am a fan of Medicat USB. You can read about it here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/medicat-usb-a-multiboot-linux-usb-for-pc-repair.361577/

Did you create the USB drive with Rufus? Your system may not recognize uefi drives. Try formatting it with rufus and choosing your partition scheme as "MBR" instead of "GPT". wozzzzza
is this an ok virus??
hbk4ever
That is remote desktop software. It should be fine. I know anti virus software labels it as potentially unsafe.

hbk4ever
You should be able to startup Sergei since it's running solely off the USB drive. Bad sectors in the hdd wouldn't effect that. Instead of windows based, have you tried dos based utilities on the USB drive yet? Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

wozzzzza
well i fixed it, after several scans and repairs of sectors on the hdd it now actually boots into its own windows.

Their site admin routinely embeds Cerber ransomware virus in their executable. Once all your files have been encrypted, it asks you to send $1000 worth bitcoin to the address on screen. I have been infected by that exe once and I refuse to use it even if someone pays me to do so. https://blogs.quickheal.com/alert-ransomware-is-being-spread-through-the-ammyy-admin-website/ https://www.welivesecurity.com/2018/07/11/ammyy-admin-compromised-malware-world-cup-cover/ https://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/answer/How-did-Ammyy-Admin-software-get-repeatedly-abused-by-malware https://appriver.com/blog/ammyy-admin-rat-leveraged-in-massive-malware-campaign I call out Sergei for including this junk company product in his bootable CD. This is the main reason for me not using Sergei Strelec's bootable CD. I just create my own. I think EaseUS Partition Manager gives an option to create a basic WinPE based bootable USB. You can even try this one out http://www.aomeitech.com/pe-builder.html
