majithia23
hello friends ,well i was thinking of this .i have a lot of data on my pendrive ( like we all do ),personal and not so personal .and also i keep deleting and updating its contents regularly .so i just fear , that in a hurry someday , i might delete the sensitive and personal data also .:fear:so is there a way , by which we can lock the file or folder , so that it is protected from accidental deletion .( or for that reason preventing it from voluntary deletion command , if when i m drunk and dont know what i m doing !!!! )thanks... Administrator DKT27 Posted February 18, 2010 Administrator Share Posted February 18, 2010 How about making it read only (in addition to making it hidden)? If read only, it will ask you that this file is read only, so you wanna delete it or not?BTW I'm not sure if this option is present in Windows 7 or Vista. HX1
LOL.. OR you can just go to Portableapps.com and download Toucan.. takes a bit to get used to.. bu tis easy once you get the hang of it.. This will not only make things so that you don't delete them.. it can encrypt files and folders on your drive so that they cannot be accessed by anyone but you..Truthfully I would not keep anything that is that important on a drive .. maybe temporarily but.. that's it.. I have a backup of mine.. so I can mod and play with things as i always am without making a mistake.. even with updates.. Read-Only protection is great too.. The things is that if you have the drive formatted with FAT file system your system security data streams have nowhere to exists since they are mostly present on minimum NTFS File systems.. ( which however will slow down access a bit..

*dcs18
Had been using Steganos Safe (in the past.) IMO, it's better to walk the path of encryption.
