rawyolks
Is it safe to replace notepad with Notepad++? I'm crafting my own Windows 10 with help of the MSMG tool, and I thought about replacing files myself in the mounted images. And if yes, should I put minimal Notepad++, or can I put full? Will it be able to update itself since it's in the windows folder?

YES, but bear in mind it isn't from MS, so don't expect any updates as such with Windows update 2 minutes ago, rawyolks said: And if yes, should I put minimal Notepad++, or can I put full? It doesn't matter whatever your choice is going to be 3 minutes ago, rawyolks said: Will it be able to update itself since it's in the windows folder? already answered above, that product isn't from MS, so it can update using Windows update. A VW can run an engine of a VOLVO, but it doesn't mean it is a VOLVO 😆 Regards
rawyolks
Pardon my English I meant will I be able to update Notepad++ since it's in windows folder and if it'll keep the notepad.exe filename. But i guess it's for me to find out. Maybe the smartest would be to just leave it as is?

We always do this and let it to run parallel to Notepad++ It doesn't harm anything in your windows- you can even uninstall Notepad++ at a later stage, if you want to do this Regards
UberGeek
Notepad++ cannot replace the native Notepad which comes pre-installed . . . Notepad++ is a third-party alternative. Personally, I find Notepad++ far more superior to Microsoft Notepad.
