d3v
Hey guys I'm in need of some advice/suggestions.I've reformatted by 5-year old AMILO 256mb laptop with Windows XP Pro SP3 after a 3-pass wipe and it has done wonders for the health/speed of this old boy.Nethertheless I want to keep the speed consistent and that means a very lightweight security setup. Before I reformatted I had NOD32/Outpost Firewall combo which made the system slow down something awful! What do you guys reccomend?

shought
I'd recommend ESET Antivirus(customizable, better for advanced use) or Avira(not so customizable, better for general use) and just using the Windows firewall.
HX1
Could try Prevx and Windows Firewall... What are the other specs of the system?

spootnack
Symantec products (2010) are very light !But if you are careful, you don't need an AV in real-time !!!Use a firewall, HIPS products, Hardening....Like: Defensewall, Sandboxie, Malware Defender, Faronics Anti-Executable...++
Administrator DKT27 Posted February 12, 2010 Administrator Share Posted February 12, 2010 Just an suggestion, uncheck "advanced heuristics". Will make it more faster. ;)
*dcs18
. . . . . . another suggestion, uncheck 'Potentially unsafe applications.' Patches & KeyGens will run faster (otherwise some might vanish into quarantine.)
