Great to see an uptick in password managers over the years! Those of us in IT jobs involving 'Users' welcomed the reprieve from password resets and account lockouts.

But I started my password manager journey with Enpass around 2014 and never see it mentioned in these kinds of articles. What gives? Anyone else ever heard of them?

That didn't even mention the one that won the Internet yesterday after the announcement: Bitwarden.

I use BitWarden too now, before LastPass for years, but too fu&*ing expensive now.. so goodbye LP..

I must say BW looks cleaner then LP, a lot smoother imo.

It's not a portable version, but you can access it through the browser, without the need to install anything.

Bitwarden is mentioned if you click on "Show More (1 items)"

A few years ago, I had try several of this kind of software.

About EnPass ? There is a bunch of people aware about the issue with flarum and the fact, they don't care at all (none news after 6 months etc).

That's why (for the moment), I won't advice (to use it) because you don't have any help (or support).

Unless you can be patient for a long time ? 3 or 4 years later ? From my point of view, that's a terrible drawback !

Do you believe the issue has gone ? Try yourself because today I rather to use an other software (Sticky Password, AgileBits 1Password, etc).

Switched to Bitwarden after years of using Lastpass.
And it does feels better in many ways. No complaints. Simple, Easy to use.

@uffbrosI'm not sure if this is what you're looking for (Direct link to portable)? For manually navigating to it, you would go to the Bitwarden download page> Desktop> more desktop installation options> Portable App for Flash Drives (No Auto-Updates)

I haven't used portable, but have been relatively pleased with Bitwarden overall since I switched from LastPass.

@bob1234...Thanks for that link. You have to create an account to use. Is this a web based service like LastPass? Anything web based can be hacked and defeats your purpose. I am currently using KeePassXC and like it of all of the recommendations. Thanks.

Yes, it uses cloud syncing (Microsoft Azure if you're curious about where data are stored). It may be possible to self host, but I don't do that and so I couldn't comment much about it. If you think cloud syncing is a security risk that's too much for you, then stick with KeePassXC. For me, I like the feature set and convenience, data are encrypted, and I use 2FA on most of my accounts, so I have no major concerns.

Dashlane was wonderful - it just works - got my parents to use it who barely know what a computer is and they have no weird issues. It is expensive though.

I changed to Kaspersky as part of their internet suit - its a bit rougher around the edges but not too bad if reasonably pc literature.

The five programs listed in this guide are all well-supported commercial programs. Although some offer a limited free plan, our evaluation is based on the full feature set available with a monthly or annual subscription. All of the programs share a set of core features.
