jalaffa
PeerBlock lets you control who your computer "talks to" on the Internet. By selecting appropriate lists of "known bad" computers, you can block communication with advertising or spyware oriented servers, computers monitoring your p2p activities, computers which have been "hacked", even entire countries! They can't get in to your computer, and your computer won't try to send them anything either. PeerBlock currently supports Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008, and 7 in 32-bit and 64-bit.Download

Administrator DKT27 Posted February 9, 2010 Administrator Share Posted February 9, 2010 Well never tried PG or PG2. But as per some reports, PG crashes a lot, I've never faced any crash in PeerBlock's beta versions. PG is stopped being developed. This has taken over PG and is being developed very well. PeerBlock also has good support from the developers.I think heath28m will tell you more about it. ;)

harpua
Peerblock looks and works very similar to how Peerguardian looked and worked but Peerguardian is an obsolete antique because development stopped several years ago. So the Peerblock team took over development of Peerguardian and Peerblock is essentially an updated version of Peerguardian with new additional features and is continually being developed and improved. The beta versions have been very stable so far. Much much better than any version of Peerguardian. Highly recommended to upgrade from Peerguardian to Peerblock's latest beta version. HX1
Ditto.. I ran PG2 since around 2002...( on my system ). Its a good program.. was still very stable when I switched over to PeerBlock last year.. It actually seemed as though nothing was wrong, BUT as people have stated here.. It stopped development around the time the Vista RC's came out.. so quite awhile back.. PeerBlock offers some new features.. new Icons.. small changes to the UI.. ( but very much like the PG2 one.. ) If you use the stable version you will see that it is almost virtually the same identical program as PG2.. The new Beta versions offer most of the new features.. The new version called PeerBlock actually incorporates some inner code changes to the program.. so its not all on the surface.. I use the Beta versions. I have had a few small problems with it. Mostly stable though..
bashar
what the heck is up with this BSOD using the stable one . :frusty: used it for a while , then got rid of it since it started making a real problem Thanks for the needed update
HX1
I think that by the number of BSOD's you are having with various programs.. especially driver related ones.. that the problem would be in your system settings.. I can't remember where but within Windows 7, there is a setting that will allow/disallow unsigned drivers to run on your system.. someone else may be able to enlighten you further on this.. Maybe if you post it on a Topic somewhere.. :) ( not at my Windows 7 .. right now.. but it was early on, when I was setting up Windows 7.. )
