info999
When I use my phone as a hotspot, and I connect to that hotspot on my laptop, the IP on my phone is different than the IP on my laptop Why is this happening ? How can I get the same IP on my laptop ?
Matrix
Every device on the network will be assigned a different IP that is not already being used by another device. If DHCP is not used to assign an IP then a IP must be manually assigned to the device and it must be different from all the other IPs on the network. If an IP address is configured on two devices connected with the same network then you will have an IP Conflict as the network will not know if a packet is coming from Device A or Device B.
