Administrator DKT27 Posted January 18, 2010 Administrator Share Posted January 18, 2010 Mozilla releases second Firefox release candidate<img src="http://i50.tinypic.com/2nuoz2e.jpg" align="right">Firefox 3.6, a modest upgrade that embodies Mozilla's effort to increase the frequency the open-source browser is developed. Mozilla on Sunday released a second release candidate of Mike Beltzner, president of Firefox, announced second Firefox 3.6 release candidate Sunday but didn't share details. The release notes were equally mum, but the update process called the new software a "security and stability update." The software is available from Mozilla's download site. More than 1 million people are testing Firefox 3.6 at present, and more than 300 million overall use Firefox, Mozilla said. The new version includes Personas to let people customize the browser's appearance; blocks third-party software from encroaching on its file system turf to increase stability; and--perhaps most significantly given the competitive threat from Google Chrome--shortens start-up time and improves responsiveness and Javascript performance. The update process says Firefox 3.6 release candidate 2 improves security and stability. Mozilla has been moving to a faster release cycle for Firefox and, more recently, the Thunderbird e-mail software. With Firefox, Mozilla recently changed course to try to produce updates more often that add new features but don't disrupt interfaces or otherwise require users or Web developers to change their ways. The first of these non-intrusive releases, code-named Lorentz, is scheduled to arrive in the first quarter as Firefox 3.6.5. Source - CNET
Bizarre™
Firefox 3.6 RC2 is identical to RC1 since the fixes are solely for Linux.Windows and Mac users will not notice anything different.

SacredCultivator
From previous threads, the Custom Builds pretty much eliminate things that aren't needed and the files are tweaked for optimum performance if I'm not mistaken.I've never tried them. HX1
Well first of all you need to remove these..- Java Console 6.0.10- Java Console 6.0.11- Java Console 6.0.18...and go with Console2. Or just keep the 6.0.18...I would also (if the following doesn't work) check each one of these extensions to make sure they are not causing the issue..I can see a few kinks and extra extensions that may or may not be able to be downsized into one extension as well.. but thats another issue..May want to open prefs.js and make sureyou don't have tons of old settings and references to extensions that may be left behind and.. the extension flder to make sure you don't have remnant folders from extensions.. All of these things can cause corruption and issues.. but try the other stuff first.. before you 'clean-house'...( Though it may help tremendously )Did you try a clean profiles yet? run firefox -P?Next I would check and cross reference each one of your plugin versions and make sure they are the most up to date. IF they are and you are still having issues.. You will need to disable them and re-enable one at a time to see which one is causing the hangup... I would check the validity and necessity of these plugins in particular, ( personally I would remove them and a few more ) as most if not some do not need to be installed for you to be able to open files for these programs from Firefox..Google Update is a likely candidate for the problem at hand, and I personally wouldn't use QuickTime..BUT if you do make sure you go to Microsoft FixIt! and get the patch to make sure it is safe..- BitTorrent- DNA Plug-in- eMail ID- Google Earth Plugin- Google Update- Musicnotes- QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.4- RealJukebox NS Plugin- RealPlayer™ G2 LiveConnect-Enabled Plug-In (32-bit)- ScorchPlugin- Yahoo Application State Plugin Once finished.. you should have your problem taken care of.. You may also want to check for and remove any additional versions of Java.. just in case...
