mp68terr
Hi, Using an old Samsung galaxy S4 under LineageOS 7.1.2. So far, and now too, using 'GPS status pro' (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpstoolbox.pro) for the localization. It takes ages for the app to define the GPS location, even with a fresh GPS-A file. The sensor itself seems to work though. Tried 'Compass Level & GPS' too (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jee.level&hl=en_US), simply did not work on my phone. No location either when using Sygic-like app offline maps alone (no extra GPS location app installed). Wondering what you guys are using in your android phones for the GPS location? mp68terr
The GPS sensor is obviously the one that is built into the phone itself. Was speaking about the apps that access the GPS sensor. Looks like the system in use is not so efficient to locate the phone and to use navigation applications. Wondering if there are apps able to 'boost' the GPS sensor, able to improve the communication with satellites, etc.?
SouthernStar
I'm Running Waze,Sygic, tomtom on a Samsung galaxy S5 They all run just fine, Sygic used to be my favorite, but i seem to be using Waze more now Waze does not use offline maps, so data could be a factor?, waze best feature is users constantly updating traffic as it happens, and it easy and quick I'm impressed galaxy 4!, thought i was the only one in the dark ages............lol
mp68terr
😁 Except for the GPS stuff that is not efficient enough to my taste, the S4 is working fine with LineageOS 7.1.2 , no plan to change. Might have tried waze some time ago, forgot, but came back to offline sygic. Should check that again and see how waze deals with the sensor. Maybe worth resetting the GPS Data: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.discipleskies.gpsreset&hl=en&gl=US
