I finally had to upgrade  to windows 10, after a new pc build, no choice :(

What i find confusing is why Microsoft have so many builds on the market?, 1709,1809,1903,1909,2004

So what is the best build?

Just curious people, seems madness

Your best would probably be 2004, generally speaking, the latest build is preferred, just don't be a seeker, give M$ time to work out the bugs before jumping. Some may argue that one step previously, ex: 1909 is better, that up to personal debate but I have been running 2004 with no issues that have not been common in prior builds.

Best rule of thumb, once you install a version, let WU do its thing for you, it will install security and required CU updates automatically but will defer "Feature Updates"(Going up in major builds, like what you posted) and "Optional" CU updates. I generally wait for the "Optional" stuff to become mainstream personally. Always keep a good image backup on hand also!

Do you want bugs? Insider builds is the best source... xD
Agree with latest build without feature updates or, at least, with 2 months after release.
Original drivers (updated from manufacturer), not those that from Microshit... those are always crippled.

Video drivers from nvidia, amd or intel... never from MS.

Chipset drivers from amd or intel... never from MS.

Audio drivers from MB manufacturer... never from MS.

Other drivers... well if you can find something from the manufacturer that's not bloatware, fine... MS can be a good source.

Good luck!

2004. All updates. Zero issues. Imo there's no reason to stay on an old build unless a person has a very specific issue that is effecting them on a big enough scale to HAVE to use an old version.

seems everyone has a favorite build, no standouts so far

I was reading the list of fixed bugs on 2004 and i think the other was 1909

The list of fix's was substantial for both builds,  seems MSN has policy of  we will fix it as we go, think we need more stable platforms, instead of gimmicks, each newer build

Personally I've had no issues, but some are not so lucky

At the moment I'm running Win10 1809 without issues 🙂

Stay there for a while, although 1909 seems to be the best bet, if you want the monthly updates.

OR else, try  LTSC 2019, which actually are the same SKU members as 1809.

There are still some few issues yet to solve in 2004

LTSC 2019  i've been using for sometime, least amount of bloatware and spyware

i made images of 1909 and 2004, just in case,  i want to go back down that road

With 1909 or 2004 installed  my firewall was kept busy, really made me appreciate LTSC 2019

as the song goes nothing compares to you 🙂...........

i must resist the hype for the latest releases, but curiosity gets me  all the time, thank god it's an easy way back

Apparently, there is a trouble with the latest one (aka v2004). Because dism (offline) can't remove the "ProvisionedAppxPackages" called : "Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00_14.0.27323.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe" from the .iso itself.

And about the "Capabilities" ? The "Language.Basic" remain a little trouble. But at the end, it easy to find one or two solution to remove it.
