So what is really new in build 581? Comodo still hasn't bothered to update their Release Notes or download pages yet. :bag: In build 579, 'the AV engine was integrated' but that doesn't interest me since I only use the Firewall component. Does this new build 581 affect the firewall at all?

This update simply fixes a AV Update issue. As stated here by Umesh (Comodo head of AV Labs):

Quote from: umesh on January 06, 2010, 07:52:59 PM

V581 fixes issue where users stuck on a base and were not able to update further.

We resumed updates for few hours today and then paused. Hopefully from tomorrow we will be able to resume without pause.

Thanks

AV Updates will continue hopefully tomorrow as stated by Umesh.

Here are the download links for those who would like a fresh install and are new CIS users - Latest CIS build as of Wednesday, January 06th, 2010 - Existing users can update via internal updater.

Cheers,

So build 581 is just another AV update. I'm sticking with build 574. I really don't care about the AV updates of build 579 and 581. I only use Comodo for its firewall.

Hang on to your hats everybody. :fear: Build 581 will be replaced next week.

[at]umesh: When will the issue get solved that AV database's MD5 and size differs for some users?

That's a state that shouldn't be, I'm anxious it is leading to aberrant detections.

Thanks in advance.

We are coming up with another fix next week, which is expected to fix this issue.

We have identified the issue where at times merging of updates may not be as in expected order internally and this difference can arise.

Thanks

EDIT: So now we know why they've been hiding build 581. :bag:

Hehe. Useless to update.

I don't think that they will take back the update, they will get a new update instead. But wont mention this in their changelog. :P

Anyway it's my job to test the new version and post the update. :)
