Karlston
Gaming browser Opera GX turns one; brings Discord support and more Opera GX, the only web browser in the market to position itself as a ‘gaming browser,’ is introducing new features in its latest ‘birthday update.’ Opera GX was launched in June 2019 during the E3 gaming expo and raked in a million downloads in a couple of months. The company claims that the browser has experienced a 121% growth in monthly users since the end of 2019. The browser has an array of features for gamers like CPU, RAM, and network limiters, as well as Twitch, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp integration. It also has all the features from the main Opera browser, including a free built-in browser VPN, ad blocker, as well as Workspaces - a tool for better tab grouping. The latest update brings three new features: Built-in Discord support: With native integration of Twitch, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and now Discord in the sidebar, Opera GX makes it easy to stay on top of conversations with online friends as well as online trends and streams. Hot Tabs Killer: The feature allows users to identify the most resource-draining tabs and close them to make sure the browser doesn’t overburden the PC or laptop. Force Dark Pages: This new feature forces brightly designed pages to become dark to stop that blinding glare. It injects its own changes to a site's styles to turn bright backgrounds dark. The feature is currently in beta and must be explicitly switched on. To celebrate its birthday with the Opera GX community, the company will host a livestream on Twitch with SypherPK’s channel at 17:00 CEST on June 19. The stream will be accompanied by a discussion on Opera’s discord server.
