Do Nespresso machines make good espresso?

I prefer the coffee from a Nespresso machine to that from a stove-top caffetiera like the Bialetti, and to the product of a steam-driven espresso machine, but it does not compare favorably to a good pump-driven home espresso machine, let alone a professional machine operated by a professional barista.   The attraction of a Nespresso machine is that it is very convenient, particularly for a single serving, with very little cleanup or regular maintenance.   It works well as a shared machine (nespresso machine amazon) in a small office setting, where most consumer-grade espresso machines would quickly be destroyed by misuse. It will never compete with really well-made espresso, but sometimes a "good enough" cup with friends is  exactly what you need.

Dear Kevin,

I am writing to you from Italy and I can tell you that we use this "De 'Longhi EDG100.W" product at home. You can find it on the amazon website and I assure you that the coffee is very good.

Hi

I too use a De Longhi coffee machine since years.

And - that's what i think -  if you have a little money and really like good coffee, no, don't buy a Nespresso machine.

The capsules are too expansive, you cannot choose how strong you want your coffee... and so on.

And, first of all, no, nespresso machines do not make good expresso.

Completely agree with this.

Besides, plastic and Aluminum are not a good way to pack individual doses of coffee.

There's no expresso like a real expresso machine. Sure, there's a bigger chance that the machine is not set to your particular taste, it differs much more than a Nespresso, but it sure tastes much better.

I would go for a coffeemaker that grinds coffee beans, but it's more expensive and I think it needs more maintenance.
