Microsoft Edge is a free web browser based on the Chromium Open Source project and other Open Source software. Anyone who's used Google Chrome will immediately feel right at home with the new Microsoft Edge since both browsers are based on Chromium. Currently, you'll need a 64-bit operating system. On startup, you can import your links, favorites, and settings when you install. Options are available to customize what you want or don't want, to import as well as the option to sync across devices. The interface is clean and easy to use. The voice options to read a page is a neat feature and works well. Most popular extensions are also available in the Microsoft Store. Microsoft Edge delivers as we hoped and expected with a clean, simple, friendly web browser that we think many people will now gladly use as their default web browser; something very few people wanted with Internet Explorer.

Thanks to Astron for the update.

As it is Chromum based, there is no blank page without an extension.

Using Bing: I used previous versions when it was still Beta, and it was possible to change the default seach engine.

To bypass Bing search on new tab page, install Chrometana Pro - Redirect Cortana and Bing https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chrometana-pro-redirect-c/lllggmgeiphnciplalhefnbpddbadfdi?hl=en-US.....works great and you will now have Google search results.

Working perfectly, all searches are now made by google only, even in new tab also

Hi, @manju

What you said is right, it is trying to make your home page a blank page, that needs the extension.

Now Block Origin ,that was at first 1.26.0, was updated to version 1.26.2 and IDM works now well with EDGE.

i can do that also.

start page (when opening browser), new tab page, and home page button settings.

on new insider fast ring (19613) i have old issue. GSOD regarding DPC Watch Dog and this time seems related to opening ANY browser.... IE11, Edge Chromium BETA,  Google Chrome Stable....

opening any browser results in system freeze and reboot after dump error GSOD  😞

only way to use browser is in Safe Mode...

sfc and dism commands come out with out errors...

As far as I can remember using "about:blank" wasn't possible during Beta phase.

Anyways thanks for the info.
