While some competitive solutions purport to have similar functionality, ESET has developed a unique approach that provides true and full integration of point security solutions. The key advantage of this approach is that individual protection modules are able to communicate together seamlessly, to create unparalleled synergy to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of protection. Moreover, the integrated architecture guarantees optimal utilization of system resources, so ESET Smart Security continues ESET's well know reputation for providing rock solid security in a small footprint that will not slow down an individual's computerDownload
jalaffa
Some added info:Hello,A beta version of ESET Smart Security 4.2 has been released in English (ENU) and Slovak (SKY). It brings several new features, enhancements and fixes described in the changelog below. It's available for download from the beta download page. Installation over the previously installed version is supported. Should you come across any problems during installation or during the beta testing, feel free to report it in the v. 4.2 beta forum that will be created shortly (in the mean time, you can post in this forum and later we'll move the posts to the beta forum when ready).IMPORTANT NOTE:The beta version has a trial license embedded. If you perform a clean installation, make sure to use the username and password you received after purchase instead of the embedded one. When installing the beta over a previous version, the username and password will be preserved as long as you leave the check box to retain current settings ticked during installation.Changelog:- added new firewall zones that can be switched between each other automatically based on defined criteria- added an option to postpone installation of a newer firewall module until the next computer restart- added support for ESET Remote Administrator 4 features (e.g. centralized quarantine, upgrade,...)- added support for blocking hard drives connected via USB- added support for AIK 2.0 (part of Windows 7)- added support for Thunderbird 3- improved IMAP support in email client plugins- added support for NT4 (limited features)- added support for Opera 10 (changed path to certificates)- improved support for dynamic disks- license information updated more frequently- improved compatibility with Windows Filtering Platform on Vista SP1 and newer OS- improved mechanism for lockup prevention on heavily loaded systems- other minor improvements and fixes
jofre
During installation I deleted Username and Password that was already inserted and tested «NodLogin 10c» and later, on another OS image, also tested «Eset BoxMara Fix 1.3». No problems found. All is fine. However, Eset calls BoxMara Fix 1.3 a Trojan (!!)MiNodLogin 3.7.5.1 and NodEnabler 3.4.1 couldn`t insert Username and Password (Failed !)WinXP Pro SP3 (x86)Cheers

Administrator DKT27 Posted December 22, 2009 Administrator Share Posted December 22, 2009 @teodor12: I had to hear or read a lot when I said that. :lol:But yea that's true. Same happened to me when I used it.My advice, go for ESET AV + Comodo firewall. Download Comodo, in installation, uncheck AV and select only firewall. ;)

Jota.Ce
I guess he's on Automatic mode and firewall is blocking whatever it wants.Put it on Interactive an it will ask you for permissions. Once given, no more questions for that program. No problems here...PS: But i don't feel unsure with this firewall (+router). Matousec trials are limited to 84 selected cases... if i conveniently chose 1 virus file i could demonstrate that one software solution has a 0% of detection rate...Take Kaspersky for example (just to heat it up)... and one virus for my own convenience:Sample: 1 virus (Win32.FuckM$)Detected: 0Percentage: 0% (---> highly unsafe)In ESET (if chosen conveniently):Sample: 1 virus (Win32.FuckM$)Detected: 1Percentage: 100% (---> highly recommended)I know, 84 test trials is not ONLY 1, but there's no 10000 trials with basic, intermediate and advanced cases for those firewalls. Administrator DKT27 Posted December 23, 2009 Administrator Share Posted December 23, 2009 Well yea in my case the firewall was in automatic mode + user liked rules. And I'm sure many of the users would like it auto.
HX1
eset smart security has the worse firewall i ever seenit blokes my browsers in less than a daywhat i do wrong ? how can i prevent ESS bloking my browsers ? i cannot load any page on net with any of the browsers- but after i uninstall ESS everything works greatany advice ?I suggest few things right off.. number one being that you need familiarize yourself with the settings from start to finish.. too many settings for you to deal with.. get rid of it.. Next is to find out which of the IDS options are right for your network/configuration/DNS server... These can have detrimental effects on your connection.. if you don't know which ones will not work properly for the setup... Next, firewall should be set to Interactive mode enabling you to make decisions pertaining to HIPS, and your firewall.. Otherwise it does very strict default settings.. and also lets applications through in several domains.. that you may not want polling out or connecting..You may also want to make sure you have the correct settings for your type of connection and domain..( Strict, Network Sharing.. ) also making sure nothing else is interfering/filtering your connection and that it is configured correctly beforehand.. That simple..
teodor12
o no my net traffic is ok , my utorrent work ok and cfosspeed show my normal speedi use ESS with firewall in interactive mod but my browsers cannot load any page many thanks for all advices you given to me
HX1
Okay now go to IDS and disable these two.. ( and that is a guess at the issue ) but turn off ARP Poisoning Attack and DNS Poisoning attack.. in Personal Firewall > IDS and advanced options > Intrusion Detection ( and you may want to change your DNS to OpenDNS.. for security through the DNS service ) .. after you turn those off.. see if the browser will load pages.. These were the only two that would malfunction.. It took me two different installs, spanning six months.. to figure out what was going on.. being non-aware when I first upgraded from version 3..Everything else is turned on except the following..( starting at the top )Allow Printer Sharing in Trusted Zone ( because I do not have a network Printer nor do I allow any connection from any other system, also denies virus and infection.. or other through any of the device connections and card slots that may exist or through the device/devices over the network; which actually should be caught anyway if yo have the rest of your settings correct )Allow incoming RPC-----Alow remote desktopAllow multicast resolution in the Trusted Zone ( LLMNR )I would also make sure you have no rules written in Rules and Zones > Rules and Zones Editor > I would make sure that everything is clean to start fresh and write new rules.. you could have them blocked.. However IF your connection is dropped when you try to load a page for the entire connection..when you try to load the page .. setting your IDS settings like that above should repair the problem.
