*dcs18
I want some help here. I don't use TuneUP Utilities anymore now. I use it's bootskin and welcome screen. But when I start my computer I get this message of two OS options - XP Pro SP3 and XP Pro SP3 TuneUp backup.I wanna remove that backup thingy. Any idea how can I do that? You may try this:-1) Right click 'My Computer' to select 'Properties'2) Navigate to the 'Advanced' tab3) Click the 'Setting' tab under 'Startup and Recovery'4) Click the 'Edit' radio buttonYou'll find something similar to the following text opening up in notepad:-[boot loader]timeout=3default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS[operating systems]multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /TUTag=GF8VMZ /Kernel=TUKernel.exemulti(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional (TuneUp Backup)" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /TUTag=GF8VMZ-BAK You need to delete the characters highlighted above in red and then opt to save the file. Please be warned you'd be editing the boot.ini and if you make some mistake your system could get screwed.Post-edit your boot.ini file should look like the following:-[boot loader]timeout=3default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS[operating systems]multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
