csmdew, yes I do get what you're saying there but I'm more so talking to the people who actually have the IP blocking method already in place, so they're not "newbies", they have the know-how to do it, but then they also choose to add "extras" along with it which is completely unneeded and unnecessary. And that's what I don't really understand on their part, that's all.

Because just saying what u did by blocking and the registry changes here sounds simple a lot of ppl don't know how to do that. Need an illustrated example on how to do this for some.

hi csmdew, if you want to utilized ip blocknig method, illustration are already provided in the toolbox. As far as the contributors provided, these are the illustrative guides supported: ( Just clicked on that linked)

idmtoolbox2020guides.jpg

PS: the toolbox doesno patch anything. It only utilizes the ipblocking method guide, cleaning the keys, etc...

Note:  This is not a patch tool as i dont like to patch this program due to its behavior. The key here is just blocking the license server check with a clean idm in the registry which has been the same method of past IDM version till now. You may have a nag first so i would recommend to establish your blocker e.g. Using netlimiter, proxycap, or other security tools in the application blocker section. then do a clean up then register program again.    Toolbox should be run in admin mode esp windows 10 due to file protected file mechanism.

If you can establish activated version of idm , you just need to update future version and nothing more to do unless they update again the base clsid check.

If you dont like to use third party security applications which guides you in this toolbox, this is not for you.

For testers like me, installed activated both IDM and ADM. So you'll know the difference between the two.

All credits to the work of nsane people in the past including me of course ( DCS18/Recruit/Undertaker/hamanokaito/Knowledge/Baltagy/ DukunCabul/people i forgot to mention , sorry) Refer to credits section.

I think it would be helpful to have a warning on launch of the toolbox - something along the lines of "In order for the toolbox to work, IDM must be shut down. Do you want to continue? (Yes/No)" in case we have open downloads and IDM closes out of the blue.

Noted @ keyman.  Will add that up as per your suggestion. :)

@I am Neggan, No , its Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security from Microsoft.   Use Method 2 Not the classic method. Illustrations provided.

I still don't have a better documentation of WFC by Sphinx.

first of all, some users will use IP blocking as a backup plan when one of the patches won't work. so the rationale of using multiple patches is that IDM stays activated without any pop-up issue when one main patch fails. this is my method that I used 2 years ago and it never changes. no impact to my system either. i bet everybody does the same too.

i can't imagine you're making a unneeded fuss about using multiple patches anyway.

No fuss in asking the rationale of using multiple "meds" when it's not needed and thus a false rationale.

People here who have properly set up the IP blocking method can attest to its effectiveness and longevity. I guess I'm beating a dead horse now with this and I'm done after this, but to anyone else out there like me and I know others here who are that wish to use any modifications/additions even by "trusted" sources as a complete last resort, there is a completely clean and reliable option out there for us in the IP blocking method, which doesn't and hasn't required any "extras" along with it, that's all. But like I said before, to each his own.

just to add, even with IP block in place, every re-installation of IDM will need to clear registry and fix the pop-up as well, to ensure a fortified activation fix and no issues on registry's side. so this is still called multiple "meds".

alas, you never know what IDM does mean with "fixing bugs" on their changelogs without knowing that they're beating up any activation flaws on IDM.

you do you, I do I, they do theirs. end of story.

Hi friend, in previous versions your patch could completely disable the update check button, now it doesn't work.
Could repair this?

Hello, this is how it works, the application searches for updates but cannot access the database over the internet. So it always remains like up to date. :D
