DLord
After few days trying all sort of solutions mentioned here and elsewhere FYI: If you are avoiding patches with high virus/malware alerts like me (that is high detection rate on Virustotal), the only solution that I found was to register the IDM with a clean keygen and then prevent the app from contacting home by blocking the IPs with my firewall. Many thanks to all who provided various solutions, but nothing worked for me but the IP blocking. Now let's keep the fingers crossed not to get the damn nag-screen again. It's impossible to use only as Keygen!! 2. The patch from @Ali.Dbg is for sure 100% clean. And a virus is technically impossible of only 29 KB. Update 1: After 18 hours and many tries to call home (which were all blocked), I got 1 nag-screen. Apparently if the app cannot verify your registration with their servers after certain amount of time, it will show the fake registration pop-up. I bet there's leftover registry on your system that triggers the pop-up thing. For this, you can try @sledge101's solution. If you do it properly and in elevated permission, then there's shouldn't be a problem on the IDM copy once properly fixed. FYI also, I use @Actver's dll patch + @sledge101's IDM fix + IP Block using Internet Lock and so far, I don't face any problems.

Not all detection by Virustotal are are PUA. 3. Yes, any file that can be executed or injected can be a virus regardless of the size.

DLord
Quote I wanna see a virus in a small "Hello world!"... Hidden bytes?? Here you go: Troj/JSRedir-BV is an obfuscated Javascript, typically seen attached to spam email messages. If the attachment is opened the web browser will be redirected to a scam web site. Such redirection could be done in one line of Javascript, but due to the heavy obfuscation used a Troj/JSRedir-BV script is typically 3 kB to 5 kB in size. Mal/Dloadr-Y is a downloading Trojan with functionality to change firewall settings, download a configuration file from a remote website, then download further malware as dictated by the configuration file. Samples of Mal/Dloadr-Y are typically 25 kB to 30 kB in size. Like the saying goes, " ignorance is bliss ".

And pros also know the difference of real email vs webmail, admin rights etc. Anyway... Better pay then fast, because costs only 25 bucks anyway. But a keygen will NEVER exist, because the software & servers need confirmation of any license (2-keys like encryption works etc) in a short time. If not then the license becomes auto fake, very simple. Plus a Internet Download Manager would never live offline, would simply not make sense... So blocking is already detected! Update 2: After total of 22 hours of use with only 1 nag-screen, IDM started to malfunction (would not show downloads in download section and was freezing Firefox). So I uninstalled the program completely, cleaned the traces with clean-up batch file as well as other tools mentioned here. I also used ccleaner to remove the remaining traces from registry completely. Now I have a fresh copy with @Actver's dll patch and IP blocking. Let's see how this one works.
