Bush-era rule intended to mandate Americans use energy-efficient general purpose light bulbs. Details: The rule was required by legislation passed in 2007, and would have gone into effect on Jan. 1, 2020, per the New York Times. It required the majority of bulbs sold in the U.S. be LED or fluorescent. The big picture: Friday's decision follows the Department of Energy's September rollback of a rule that applied efficiency standards to specialty light bulbs. What he's saying: Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette said the rollback intends “to protect consumer choice by ensuring that the American people do not pay the price for unnecessary overregulation from the federal government,” per NYT. Brouillette added that the new rule isn't needed because innovation is already "increasing the efficiency and affordability of light bulbs without federal government intervention.” The impact: The Natural Resources Defense Council estimated the administration's decision could cost consumers an additional $14 billion on energy bills each year, the NYT notes. frankl1n Posted December 22, 2019 Share Posted December 22, 2019 well at my residence I have used all the different kinds of bulbs thru the years. Old standard bulbs (incandescent) burn out all the time, flick on a switch and sometimes they blow, but either way they last not long, also hot and use a lot of electricity. Halogen bulbs are just too much glare for my taste. CFL bulbs are IMHO a joke, they are dim and break easily, put one outside and it becomes a home for spiders due to its design(flaws). Now with the new bulbs all is good for me, they are bright but not too much glare and they are very cool to the touch, not prone to breaking like CFL and save me loads on my electric bill, not to mention the price of bulbs over the years to come. Also they dont draw much amperage which helps out the older wiring I have in my home. The last time I bought a 4 pack I dont remember the exact price, but it was not that expensive. I dont think Trump sees the big picture, just like most politicians they see only a short way down the road and seem to have blinders on when it comes to actual progress and improvements. Anyways I will continue to buy the new bulbs, that is if I have to, the last 4 pack I bought should last up to the time I am too old to care about lightbulbs any longer!!! :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Now, next election, American republic / people decide that you / I / We -- right or wrong ? The people who elect the President and they choose what they want.
