His desktop has been deleted, which is a Windows file system virtual folder. He did mention about losing data related to docs, txts, excels, movies, song, photos, ... in the last of his statement. So, I am still recommending to use data recovery tools. As system restore will never be able to help in this case.
hoiu72
For some reason I thought that you were a victim of a ransomware or something, but the other comments are right. You need to use data recovery tools to get your files back. Try using Active@ File Recovery or any software like it, its great
Administrator DKT27 Posted November 8, 2019 Administrator Share Posted November 8, 2019 Most important thing to remember about file deletion. Whenever one deletes a file, it does not get removed immediately. It stays there. When one deletes a file, simply put, the OS only tells the drive to mark that file deleted, it does not actually remove the file from the hard drive. So it's always possible to recover files, even after deletion. So when do files stop getting recoverable. It's when people overwrite over them. Different OSes have different methods of storing files. In most cases, any file you download, it finds any space it can to fill and will fill it, so it will overwrite over the previously deleted file easily. The second reason which is often overlooked is these softwares. Most of these softwares will physically move the files on the hard drive, sometimes or many times overwriting over the deleted files. So whenever you delete anything by mistake, the first thing to do is disable these software's background work, then recover the files and then start these software's background work again there.
