Well I won't reply like someone ho doesn't hear you.. maybe some disorder here I wonder with people sometimes .. BUT Yeah I have used and ran Ubuntu, and Mandriva thus far.. I like to be able to download the ISO and run it live in VirtualBox..

Someone tell me there is a way to access virtual Drives both CD/DVD and HD.. in VB..

EDIT: Microsoft Off 2010 keeps giving me shit I am going to INSTALL Mandriva..

Is it possible to install a OS in VB? Like after installation and restart I access it again without need to install it again? I'm quite new to VMs.

Plus, as you know, Ubuntu like systems, they have everything installed only in root directory. Will it cause any problem if I install it in VM? Will the terminal work properly?

I have never installed Linux in a VM.. manly because the size of the VHD which in the end takes a lot of space.. I could be wrong but when you create a VHD and you start the machine ( VirtualBox > Select Machine > Start ) it boots from it the same.. Everything should work as far as I know.. IF I ad a much space as you do .. I would try it.. but I don't.. same reason I haven't installed the Windows XP vhd.. yet.. and I was disappointed I couldn't just clone a vhd from a clone of my XP clone.. which I wound up just deleting anyway..

AND.. I don't like the fact I can't do Leopard.. I have DMG I can install with.. but no way to run the newer versions.. ( like using Pear for 7-8.0's ) in Windows..

I think this would an area to venture into though.. and beneficial..

Well I have reserved 50GB for Linux distros. Will make them 25-25 as I'll have to test a distro that two of my expert friends are making. Will have to beta test it. After a few betas. It would be officially released. They are planning to make a backtack like distro but Ubuntu based, so less problems and easier way to use the tools.

I got the answer for first paragraph but not for the second paragraph above. :(

I'll ask to a linux expert about it.

I answered it.. I think if I understand it properly.. It will work properly and should not create an issue.. BUT you have to remember about root directories and ANYTHING Linux just about..LOL.. Somethings even ports from Linux demand they be installed at the root.. The VHD basically becomes the root.. just like an HD..

Well seems that I'll have a try soon. As I'll only use it to learn some commands and get some proper idea on it....

Just remembered. I have i386 Ubuntu. What do you suggest, go for x64 or x32? Will only use it on VB it seems.

If my guess is correct, a new version would be released in 20 days. So would probably waste of bandwidth to download x64. Well, I'll leave it for few days.

But I did find a useful guide to install Ubuntu in VB. See this.

Some people don't open this thread thinking that we only speak non-sense here. :P

Yeah I actually have 9.10 Ubuntu right now... and I just downloaded Mandriva 2010 because their Beta to the next version has just become available.. and it will probably be awhile.. I was glad to find the right distributions .. smaller download size..It was going to be 4.3 GB or 700 MB files size so I grabbed the right one. Glad they have a selection screen which helps you get the right one.. very useful..( so many versions )

I was right. It's gonna release on 29 April as per wiki.

What's your opinion, which is better, Mandriva or Ubuntu?
