But yea your help is very valuable. :)

Yeah I read it.. good to hear your getting good speed again.. If you have occasional dropouts.. I would suggest adjusting the 1500 to 1492.. Just to see if it remains more reliable.. They usually recommend that the number be left alone but its always readily modified.. but its kind of a shot in the dark.. not really a definite solution.. Your up speed actually is pretty good..

What about your download speed, any improvement there?

Haven't tested the download speed of the torrents. But before I disabled this IP Filter thingy, I used to get about 125KB/s max at torrents and 129 is the max I get when downloading via HTTP << both as per cFosspeed.

I can surf and download almost anything via HTTP while I'm seeding. This was never the case in my whole life until I used cFosSpeed 5.00. But now I don't even need that.

Well I do get occasional dropouts and my average uploading speed in last 6 hours of seeding is 20KB/s, my max is 25KB/s. I'll try 1492 again. But I have no idea what ICMP, SNPT or MTU stands for. :P

Tell me, my NAT is enabled and IP filter disabled is it safe? Also I'm quite surprised to see that NAT only has a few timeout value boxes, I thought NAT would be something different altogether. :unsure:

ICMP = Internet Control Message Protocol

SNMP = Simple Network Management Protocol ( Guessing this is the one your talking about )

MTU = Maximum Transfer Unit

NAT = Network Address Translation

Okay so you follow that thus far.. Fairly simple idea and with your router it may actually work a tad bit more efficiently at 1492 even though its slightly smaller not a huge difference.. but this can go backwards and instead of it applying to allowed over the network.. but can relate specifically to your router..

MOST systems do not use SNMP.. and it can be a serious vulnerability if not properly managed. ICMP can be used for several things explained well at the link ... NAT, well its is basically why you call it a router..LOL If you put your system as DMZ it puts your Public IP on your system.. ( vs. on your router or gateway or modem ) instead of a DHCP address ( 192.168.1.? ) in this instance your have to re-route request to the main IP + Port number to the Network address ( 192.blah.. ... ) which then allows traffic for that port backward and forward.. However this means that in each instance you must reconfigure the needed new port ( forwarding ) through the NAT.. This will be true for each device..

NOW.. You have IP Filtering.. It depends on how you manufacturer has set it up.. My Firewall looks like this..

I have quite a few more pages of settings and other items.. including a management page which contains some very detailed information and options for configuration.. But this page was what I had referred to before about your actual firewall.. not really filtering.. I would leave filtering for a more powerful unit.. Like your computer.. which has more power and resources to process the many requests and connections.. Putting that type of load on a small system like a router with a very small processor would probably overload it.. and cause some issues, and inefficiency in processing your connection. Mine I believe is like 233 MHz.. if that gives you any idea IP Filtering I would not use unless I absolutely had to..

Usually reading through the logs occasionally and looking for/repairing or re-configuring your router to fix errors or enable functions in your other filtering and protection can ensure that you are getting to most out of your connection and that your protection is actually working as it should. So That I definitely suggest.. I had to watch this are and made a few small changes myself.. when I first got it.. and it really helped..

Well my router does have a IP Filter rule DMZ. I don't quite know about it but I read somewhere that it should be kept disabled in order to port forwards properly. Its disabled as I've kept it to none....

And believe me, my router's settings are not as easy and as good as yours. See this page for it's features. And here for the PDF manual.

I don't need much of a security. NAT enabled is ok for me. Now I'll install Comodo again, yea from all these days, after I posted wireshark, I'm without any software firewall and Windows Firewall ^still^ sucks.
