I am going to post to vent anyway.. for two days I have been trying to get my trial to update from ESET.. keeps saying 'update information is not consistent '.. and 'an error occurred while downloading update files'. I have to most up to date version according to the site.. at which point the updating from them just stops.. dead still.. which is odd..

I have done everything including searching more some DNS Changer Trojan that caused issues with some.. I thought about erasing all of my update file but that would hard to do than you know..

Anyway I am sitting here with an ORANGE ESET icon.. I just don't do that... I think something is wrong with the servers.. plus now when I try to update.. it shows this ' ?url=u23.eset.com%2Feset_eval%2Fupdate.ver ' thing when it tries to update... I NEVER have noticed this until the last two days .. its always just been the update.ver by itself.. and the servers are set to Choose automatically.... so I have tried a few things with then not.. and it seems to work faster that way but with the same results..

I don't know what else to do.. checked my hosts file.. scanned the system.. a problem at ESET is the only thing I can figure out..

EDIT: Oh and I have ping tested the domain 'u23'..

an error occurred while downloading update files

Was getting this problem about few months ago. mara- assured me that it would be solved by unfixing and re-installing ESET. And it was solved. Don't forget to delete ESET registry keys between it.

I don't care that I can access many Windows 7 folder now. I just do some security tab changes in the folder properties. If that's what the problem when you are trying to erase the ESET updates.

Trust me ..DK push comes to shove I use Plastique.. Can't do what? to what file.. LOL ( BartPE ) I keep thinking that somehow the entry for the servers has been compromised.. either in the registry or someone has screwed something up on a/the redirect on the server that ESET polls to.. ( if that is what it does.. )

The only thing that has happened recently was I had an accidental run in with an old enemy of mine.. its called keyled.dll.. ( available at the main site ) and is called by a Samurize Config.. when it becomes activated or the config is loaded by Sam.. You would thing you had been hacked and was being played with... The screen starts to have spazms.. your mouse starts to hide in the corner and won't let you do anything with it... Context menu start popping up and CMD windows, programs open...I finally had to do a reboot.. ( not sure what it was and was sure I had removed it already - though its not an infection.. just a problem with incompatibility - no led keyboard ) and remove it.. but I dunno.. I did a repair install of ESET I have to reboot.... I am just hoping its simple.. I just get sick of dealing with it.. I can't seem to get anywhere when crap like this happens.. waste my time and really starts to piss me off...

EDIT: I think someone knocked over a cup of coffee on the way out the door on Friday..

Yeah.. the Beavis and Butthead in me is always screaming.. ' yeah yeah rip it out rip it out.. .. hehehehehe '

BUT ALAS.. I win.. I thought ' Why not do a registry search for eset.com and see what your servers say in the registry?'

And there they all were ALL of them.. then at the bottom of the list was one marked Fail Safe Server.. I entered it in manually...to the GUI from the registry entry I found..and used it to update and guess what.. I am green again.. no issue.. updated just fine.. has to be the servers somewhere, somehow..

Was it set to auto before?

Yeah it was set to Automatically update and select the server.. what was odd is that it seemed to only be in the high to mid u20's.. this one is just a regular url.... and it now doe snot show the ?url bit.. just as it did before..
