Macrium Reflect is an image based backup and disaster recovery solutions which have taken another big step forward in speed, simplicity and power, focusing on helping organisations protect business critical data and systems, without fuss and budget breaking costs. Macrium Reflect creates an accurate and reliable image of a hard disk or the partitions on the disk. In the event of a partial or complete system loss, you can use this image to restore the entire disk, one or more partitions, or even individual files and folders.

In This Release:

Server Core

  • Reflect was unable to launch on Windows Server Core due to missing 'oledlg.dll' module. This has been resolved.

Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Restore

  • When exporting emails to EML file, the resulting EML file will now also include any email attachments.

Macrium Image Guardian

  • Emptying the Recycle Bin when it contains Macrium Reflect image files will no longer result in a "blocked file operation".

Change Block Tracker

  1. CBT will now be suspended if a reboot is pending following an upgrade install.
  2. On some systems, MRCBT could receive an malformed device remove notification for USB devices that would lead to a BSoD. This has been resolved.
  3. When tracking an encrypted VeraCrypt volume, CBT would receive a lock notification for the wrong device which would eventually lead to a BSoD. This has been resolved.

Rescue Media

  1. We've added a task bar button to take screenshots in PE.
  2. When making a backup through the rescue media, selecting "Shut down on completion" would sometimes reboot instead of shutting down. This has been resolved.
  3. By default, on systems without WiFi adapters, the "Add WiFi Support" advanced option checkbox will now be unchecked. Systems which have previously built rescue media will be unaffected.
  4. On systems with multiple network adapters, the rescue media would not always correctly load DHCP settings or other network settings for all adapters. This has been resolved.
  5. Manually added wifi drivers were not copied into non-WinRE rescue media builds. This has been resolved.

Clone and Restore

  1. The target list view for both clone and restore could fail to scroll to the last physical disk. This has been resolved.
  2. The "Restore Master Boot Record" settings in the Advanced dialog could fail to be applied. This has been resolved.
  3. Using Macrium Reflect English language on German systems could cause backups not to be shown in the restore view. This has been resolved.

Email

  1. Notification email addresses with labels are now allowed. E.g, (FirstName LastName <[email protected]>).
  2. Notification emails with long subject lines are now permitted.
  3. The notification email send date could be omitted from the SMTP header. This has been resolved

My latest test-results of this new version ;

1. boot-time of the Macrium-CD ; 1 min 50 sec

2. making backup of my OS , incl. verifying ; 4 min 28 sec  ( backup OS ; 13,8GB )

3. Redeploy is available also.

This ISO is bigger in bytes then the previous , works fine , a real "must have "  , if you hate "format C".........:D

"

is this a release ? ...............better wait for a wile ........its just out !

Hi Pete 12,

I just started my computer 5 minutes ago and I immediately got the task bar notification of the new Macrium upgrade.  Yep, it's an official release and it installed automatically without a hitch. My favourite, indispensable program!!:w00t::w00t::w00t:

Strange , could not make restore-medium with an USB-sticky ( "GPT not supported ".............??? )

Could make the boot-CD ( ISO) and could also choose for SD-card..........

When opening the ISO with PowerISO , choosing for making bootable USB-stick , this sticky was not "recognised" during the boot ( legacy) , wile the files are present on the sticky............!

Any idea..........??!

Pete 12, sorry I can't answer your question (way above my pay grade!!:w00t:), but I found an interesting article about the difference between MBR and GPT that might throw some light on this.

Strange, Plexxor, got an error message from Macrium , during the making of resque-media , on a USB-sticky ..........."GPT is not supported !".............so , converted it to MBR/FAT32 , still no luck , wile the files are on the sticky , still not "seen" when rebooting with it !

Making CD and SD-card went fine , both are working fine ............

Still dont know why its not possible to copy these files to the sticky and boot with it ..

Yes Pete I had the same problem as you, with the previous versions, just make an ISO file with Macrium reflect PE or RE no matter which ISO file you will use for a bootable USB Flash drive, (a lot faster than a old medium as a CD) and use Rufus as pictured above, good luck, it should just work, for me it just worked 100% with the previous versions of Macrium.

Pete 12..I have a question...I noticed that when you post details of your backup of your OS it is always a small size. In my case I make full backups because I have loads of stuff on my computer that I update as I go along day by day. Now I just noticed something yesterday.  In properties of my C drive it showed 154GB used space.

I totalled up the space being used by *my non-system folders (Music, videos, movies, photos, magazines, portables folder, collection of program installers etc) and it was 53GB .

In C:/Windows 35GB.  In C:/Program Files (x64) 3.90GB. In C:/Program Files (x86) 2.43GB.  Total=  about 95GB

So I went looking for the 59GB not accounted for (?).

In C:/Users/Funkyy it contains 53GB and shows *my non-system folders as listed above !! (see screenshot attached)

Am I correct in thinking that this is a duplication of these folders, basically making them occupy double the space necessary?

How on earth did I manage that? Maybe because I created a "My Programs", "My Comics", "My Music" etc folders myself?

So, should I delete the contents of C:/Users/Funkyy....or would that delete both 53GB sets?? Feel free to laugh hysterically at another Funkyy f-f-f-f-foul up!!:w00t::w00t::w00t:

" your OS it is always a small size. "................coz I have the OS on SSD and , very much , data on 3 other HDDs .

Im only backingup my OS , data is spread out over the HDDs and backupped on very big sticky .

So , on my backups is Win10 only ( about 14GB)............

btw ; boottime went much faster when using the resque-media on SD-card ( 30sec.) !

Yep, I understood that Pete..it was only that when thinking about how small the OS backup is that I decided out of curiosity to check how much space my other contents were taking up. That's when I discovered that I couldn't account for all the 154GB Used space.....I could only find about 95GB...I don't believe the OS is occupying 59GB !!!:fear:

@funkyy It seems you don't have the option enabled to show System and Hidden files.

I always use Treesize Free portable to check what is using the disk space

https://customers.jam-software.de/downloadTrial.php?article_no=80&language=EN

Thanks for your reply MrZeb..I'll have a look at Treesize. I don't think that 59GB is being used by the OS and hidden files.

Update:- I checked with Treesize to get a better idea. It seems the System Volume Information folder contains 52.5GB and I neglected to consider that.

2nd update (27th Sept):- As I am at a lower level than a snakes belly in computer knowledge I Googled and read about the System Volume Information folder and..BINGO!! It was the space set aside for restore points. Since I stopped using Windows restore points ages ago (and rely on Macrium images) I disabled that function and deleted the old restore points...and now I have 60GB more space to use. I just love when I am able to pull my head out of a bear trap. Every day's a school day!!:w00t::w00t::w00t:
