Crazycanuk
Hello again everyone, I have a photo nightmare on my hands... somehow most of my photos got copied over many times. Don't know what happened bad news is i have way over 10k original shots, divided between about 35 different folders. I tried many available so called "Duplicate" photo applications but they ether jam up or just plain not work. I even broke up my photos into sections but found it easier to just delete them one after the other. Could anyone suggest and link me to a good solution for this problem? Would be much appreciated, Thank you cc

andy2004
Duplicate Cleaner Pro if they are exactly the same images and haven't been modified use sha1 settings.. not free, but sure you can find the fix on here. Dup Detector 3.3.0.2 if the image is the same but different sizes. I currently use both, i also have diskboss ultimate installed as well which also does duplicates/

Yes I too have thousands of photos, unless edited the dupes should be easily disposed of by this method. Shouldn't be a problem.

Pequi
I just deleted 4.5GB of duplicate images. https://www.duplicatecleaner.com/ I use a slightly older version, but it's free, does a hash compare, and allows you to choose duplicates to delete by date/folder/pattern/etc. It's freeware, well, nagware. Tiny learning curve. Just drag all the folders into the interface and hit "GO". After it's done, you can choose what to delete with the duplicate files tab. You can even move duplicates into a new folder as a "backup" if you don't trust the delete function.
Crazycanuk
Thanks everyone, @sefton22, @frankl1n never thought of that however since they don't have exactly the same names i'm not sure this would work. Example: Miss September nude, Miss September nude (1), Miss September Nude (2) ect. maybe i'm wrong though. While looking around for some of your suggestions i fell on a cool little program that worked surprisingly well. Thanks Everyone for your help Duplicate Photo Finder Plus Site: https://www.upload.ee Sharecode: /files/10487291/Duplicate_Photo_Finder_Plus___key.rar.html Credits: crackingpatching

debebee
https://dupeguru.voltaicideas.net/ is free fast and multi platform.. The premise of this app is that dupes have same crc32 values.. much like the md5sum or sfv checkers.. So if it scans a certain directory, it will identify the dupes for you regardless of current filename.. it will offer you several options.. move or delete.. i usually choose the latter.. this is same premise used by scan groups to rename files based on a text csv regardless of what name it is now.. bigjohn
I've been using jv16 PowerTools 2014 for many years and never failed me, whatever the name of the file if it has been renamed it will be found unless it's been reduced or enlarged. It also keeps backup of all deleted files. But I do not use it to clean the system.
