mp68terr
Are you speaking about a new HDD or the HDD where OS is installed already? What is the bios saying (does it see the 'missing' HDD or not)?

Oriondin
You can use EASEUS to complete this task. It will recognize the D:\ partition and allow you to install Windows 7. If the D:\ partition needs to be reformatted or converted EASEUS will allow you to do that without erasing the C:\ partition. Pm me if you need help. vertical
if they are both working fine than linux will not be detected by windows. that's normal.windows doesn't show it to show you. look at the drive letter when windows is running, you can't see it in windows explorer but you can see it in disk manager. while installing windows it can delete your linux. it knows it is there. it depends on the way you have installed linux alongside or apart next to each other, and if you have installed linux first or windows first. delete the linux partition with disk manager or easeus like the other guy said or any other partition tool and partition it or leave it as it is unallocated before installing windows because this is not a normal situation. ----- normal for windows is not to show you all in every place only the places that are not seen so often by normal people, only advanced people go where to see that.. and not accepting linux if it can in a dual boot. and it likes to fight with linux, let me say it like that. ------
