<img src="http://nsanedown.com/images/logos/USB_Safely_Remove_icon.png" class="logo" alt="USB Safely Remove" title="USB Safely Remove" />USB Safely Remove is a USB device manager. It saves time and extends user abilities on active work with flash drives, portable drives, card readers and other gadgets. After you have stopped a device but did not unplug it, sometimes it is quite useful to return it back into the system. For example, if you remembered that you forgot to write a file to an external drive. In order to do it, you have to physically reconnect the device, however sometimes it's quite inconvenient to do, e.g. if the device is connected to the rear panel of the computer.

hot-fix 1? can you elaborate?

The company called it hot fix 1 in their change log. Let me paste what they wrote:

Update from 10/26/2009: 4.2 hot-fix 1

We have fixed some bugs found by our users in the version 4.2 final:

  • "Scan For Hardware Changes" and "Stop All" buttons could change their horizontal\vertical relative positions
  • The program could display "Cannot connect to service" message on startup
  • The program could stop additional devices when stopping a certain one
  • Some languages updated: Bulgarian, Dutch-Netherlands, Finnish, Hebrew, Romanian, Swedish

We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version by downloading the program using the link below.

Hopefully that clarifies it. ;)

Also we have not found a fix for this as yet so it will say evaluation or trial etc. To be honest I thought it was free, lol until I used it and it asked me to buy. I uninstalled it now since it needs a fix. Hopefully we will get one soon.

Well yeah.. somewhy I thought hot-fix was a fix which was hot, aka a crack/patch included :afro: Unfortunately I already updated from the previous version which had valid serial which they gave away for free.

Maybe you should include a warning which says that there is no fix yet... so people wouldn't be as stupid as me :D

Thanks for the clarification. They must be retarded, they should've just named it 4.2.01 or something like that.

Anybody know if the serial (not crack) of 4.2 works on this one?

@Lohengrin - No, the serial that worked previously will not work after the "hotfix" update. If you went ahead and updated and you are now getting a window saying you are on an unregistered version just uninstall the (relatively worthless) hotfix. Delete the Safely Remove folder in your "Program Files". Also, delete the HKCU/Software/SafelyRemove/ registry key. Once you've done that the prior version of the software along with the older serial # and name will work again. FYI, this software definitely phones home during an installation, so block internet connection if returning to older version. Good luck!
