T3rM1nat0Rr3
Acronis Home is an integrated software suite that ensures the security of all information on your PC. It can back up all the data you need and securely destroy all confidential data you do not need anymore. With Acronis Home, you will be able to back up selected files and folders, Windows applications settings, Microsoft e-mail client settings and messages, or entire disks and partitions, as well as permanently destroy files and wipe personal information from partitions and/or entire disks, and clean all traces of user activity from your Windows system. Plus Pack is an add-on module featuring enhancements like the flexibility to restore files, applications and an operating system to dissimilar hardware as well as providing support for dynamic disks and Microsoft Windows Preinstallation Environments (WinPE). Stig
I'd be interested to know if anyone has done any restorations with Acronis True Image 2020, and if so, how it went. I know earlier versions were very unreliable. I've been bitten myself. 🐶
Pete 12
" I know earlier versions were very unreliable. I've been bitten myself "..................indeed ! Used it as my first backup-tool in earlier days , now using more reliable software ( Macrium !) Only using Acronis for the Try&Decide mode , for testing etc................ DrJohn
I still use the 2011 version which is the only reliable version for me, I did a lot of restorations with it !

I've been bitten myself. 🐶 Have performed a number of restores (on different hardware across SSDs and HDDs and then across Windows 7/8.1 and 10) with this new build just to test the newer .tibx against the previous .tib extension. The backups are slightly slower and the restores are slightly faster (compared to ATI 2019) — either way . . . . the procedures completed reliably every single time (in true Acronis tradition.) ATI 2020 has got to be my all-time favorite version — next . . . . waiting to retest all the above permutations & combinations on the WinPE. mp68terr
Are you guys making backups, restoring, testing new builds every single day? It's pretty amazing! My last change in hardware was yeeeears ago, backups are made from time to time. When moving from m$oft to linux, ghost did not recognize the linux partitions, moved to DriveSnapshot, all fine for a such small software. Several backup/restore applications, wondering if there was any independent comparison between them?
dcs18
Every time I take a bath, I perform an unattended backup scheduled to restart the system — when I'm back at my workstation in 10 minutes, the system is ready at Desktop. When I retire for the day, I perform another unattended backup . . . . this time, scheduled to shutdown the system — an unattended does not cost time. There've been days when I've performed even 3 backups — it just an indication of how actively the system is being updated and tweaked on a daily basis. Backing-up the system at regular intervals ensures that a restore (if at all required) returns the system to current status — saving a hell lot time in configurations. davmil
Acronis unreliable? I don't think so. I've made 100's if not 1000's of backups and restores over the last 2 decades and never had a problem that was Acronis's fault. Of course unreadable drives can't be counted on for backing up or restoring, but that's hardly their fault. Acronis &it's tools gives so many ways that one can create & restore images it's been an absolute lifesaver for me and clients. Best of all it goes on sale 2-3X /year and you can pick up a licensed copy for $20ish or sell your client a 5 user and keep one license so you can restore on workbench - not worth pirating. It works too well and is too cheap. Not dishing others but this s/ware is reliable and seems a dream coming off the old Ghost of days gone by. Snuffy1942
Acronis is quite stable, I have used for many years, as for 20770, it is very slow, backup is approx 8 to 10 min , which for me is 2.5x longer, and restore works yes, it also takes longer. currently use 17750. have tested 600 and 770 and for me a total failure. Tested a SSD backup to HDD with both the mentioned flavor on the same system — got the following result in sizes:— ATI 2019 . . . . tib = 37.7 GB ATI 2020 . . . . tibx = 170 GB 37.7 GB vs 170 GB is a whopping difference in size. Snuffy1942
mine was not quite that much different but still 2020 was larger.
Krakus
I think ATI days are numbered. Starting from the 2015 version, the program is getting worse. They add more and more useless functions to it. ⛔
Snuffy1942
Yes, I use 3 methods for sure. Paragon, Macrium and ATI. and ATI is going fast to be not used soon. but i have clients that use so i need to keep up with it.
dcs18
Just a heads-up . . . . Backup created by ATI 2020 cannot be restored by ATI 2019 — meaning . . . . ATI 2020 bids good-bye to backward-compatibility.

Loosing backward compatibility with previous versions is a nightmare for users, which Acronis, obviously, make sure to avoid in its products. Acronis True Image 2020 is keeping backward compatibility and can restore, mount and explore (deploy) created backups till Acronis True Image 2015 Exactly as for ATI 2019 which was keeping backward compatibility till ATI 2015. Nothing changed! Few people are still using 2014 version (which is still performing fine btw), but even so, advanced users have no problem. Backups created with very old versions can even be restored using Acronis True Image 2020! Quote * Backups can only be restored. Other operations can be limited. It is necessary to create a new backup plan / archive. Quote (!) Acronis does not guarantee forward compatibility. Backups created with a newer build/version of the product may not be supported by older builds/versions. For example, restoring a backup created with Acronis True Image Build 8163 may fail with Acronis True Image Build 8076, or restoring a backup created with Acronis True Image Home 2011 may fail with Acronis True Image Home 2010. Also, some opinions here are right about installed versions being bloated, but the WinPE boot cd is very reliable.
